Having actually had a kidney stone before... YES, they can cause a lack of sleep, this usually happens when they are moving inside the kidney. Kidney stones are typically caused from prolonged daily dehydration, examples would be excessive alcohol use, too much soda and a poor diet will contribute to the development of them. The urethra is NOT designed for a solid to pass through it, which is why they hurt SO much!! Often stones are jagged and are mineral/calcium which will not feel good for obvious reasons. Cranberry juice is EXCELLENT for general urinary tract health.

Yes, Kidney Stones could make you lose sleep - as frequent and urgent urination is a symptom, causing you to awake frequently for 'potty' breaks. However, I am no Doctor and even if I were, diagnosing over the internet is unsafe. You need to see you Healthcare Provider immediately, you could have anything from appendicitus to kidney stones - and they are all urgent medical conditions.

My husband gets them from time to time. Very very painful.
He would be groaning and moaning for days. The last time he was introduced to a doctor who blasts the stone and he would be able to pass it with a little more ease. The cost of this procedure is approx $15,000. I am going to die as a pauper.
Hope you get a good doctor too and best of luck

they are tiny multi faceted sharp little rocks ripping through soft delicate skin that was meant only to pass fluid.

Think razor wire...

yep - you get the picture.
