Sammy ~
The very last thing to go on a fighter, any fighter is his punch (assuming he had a punch), his reflexes could be shot, his speech could be slurred and he might even walk on his heels but even with those negative things going on, he could still crack you pretty good.
Tyson is now beginning to show the earliest signs of Pugilistic Dementia (Brain Damage from boxing) Greater fighters than Tyson have made the mistake of going back into the ring not for a moment of glory or a realistic shot of becoming "The Champ" again but for a pay check. Boxing is all Tyson knows, there's no education to speak of he's never had a job outside of boxing.
I'm not putting out a pity party for Mike, what has happened to him ultimately he has himself to blame for where he's at now in his life, sure there were people who took advantage of him but there's people like that in every Contenders and Champions camp, the object is to weed them out and have good people watching your back, he had those people, but he got rid of them and decided to surround himself with his own kind and look where it got him, Thugs with thug mentality.
Tyson was indeed special at one time, he was one of the most popular Heavyweight Champions of the past 50 years, but quite honestly people should just let him go, he's done, he's shot. The more people ask the question "Should Mike Tyson fight" the more the chance you will see another Promoter take advantage of him put him on another Pay Per View card and use him up even more.
Thanks for asking a good question Sammy.

The more he fights the bigger chance he'll end up with brain damage. Yes he still packs a punch, but at his age he's going to get beaten to the punch 9 times out of 10. Hopefully he'll be smarter than Ali, Benitez, and so many others have been and stop now.

Wow...I thought I was going to make it through the day without answering a Tyson question. Tyson may be able to pack a punch, though he's demonstrated that he's *not* able to take a punch--that's why he was KO'd by a couple of second tier heavyweights named Kevin McBride and Danny Williams in his last two fights. You've noticed that Tyson isn't actually boxing any more despite needing money bigtime--that's because he's considered completely irrelevant by serious boxing fans. He's currently signed to fight a series of exhibition boxing matches on PRIDE MMA events--that means he'll be a "dog and pony show" against hand picked opposition. Of course McBride and Williams were essentially "hand picked opposition" chosen for their lack of mobility and perceived lack of one punch KO power. In other words, they were chosen to fight Tyson because they would stand and trade with Iron Mike, and Tyson got the worst of it. I'll not be the least surprised if Tyson gets KO'd in one of his PRIDE "boxing exhibitions" based on his last two fights and complete inactivity since...
Tyson has no business being in a boxing ring any more...his heart isn't in it and his skills have diminished to the point where he's at risk of serious injury.

Yes Mike Tyson should be fighting in boxing, but he's currently fighting in the Japanese Mixed Martial Arts organization PRIDE.

as much as his fans would love to see him come back (i count myself among them) and clean up the sorriest division in the sport, i'm afraid he couldn't and shouldn't come back. i've heard mike has chronic back pain and degenerative bone disease, which prevents him from doing road work. if true, this spells doom for mike. w/o road work, he cannot build up his stamina and so he won't be able to last more than a few rounds before getting tired. this would explain his last few performances and the increase in his most recent "fighting weights". had he not these conditions, he might be able to make a fair shot, but only w/emanuel steward in his corner. i don't think he would respect and/or listen to any other trainer, and no one else would combine the mental and physical preparation mike would need to endure the game in its current form. best he stay retired, though, and find alternative sources of income. why risk injury, dementia, etc.? some us still truly love ya mike, and care about you, and don't want you to get hurt or continue receiving the verbal abuse/ridicule that's sure to follow a ring return. don't let 'em get ya! p.s....and for the record, against danny williams, mike tore ligaments in his knee, in the first round, which a doctor said should have prevented him from walking, much less fighting! still, he fought on for several more rounds....amazing the pain he must've endured!

I think even at his age now...what is he like 40?.....he can still bang and brawl with the best of them....that's how good he is. He's doesn't have the same speed and agility as he once did, but his power is probably the same. It's a risk for any fighter to get in the ring so you can't eliminate the risk factor....that's boxing.

No, he is too old now. He would be just be a punching bag for a younger fighter.
