I don't know what is wrong! My husband has twitching with his arm and he stutters when he is upset or angry. He has short-term memory loss. He has a severe temper. He is convinced that false things are true....He can't keep a job....
His mother said he may have Tourette syndrome.
But I don't know if that's what it is.

I would think its something other then tourettes. Tourettes is having tics that you cant control. its something different all the time and doesnt just show up when your upset or angry. feeling that way can make it worse, but he would still have vocal tics throughout the day. while I'm not a doctor, I do have tourettes myself and I can tell you I tic all the time throughout the day and sometimes its 2 or more different tics in one day. I know I'm doing it, but I cant stop it. It also starts young, like when your 4 or 5 so this is something he would have had as a child as well. best thing to do is get him a referral to a neurologist who can diagnose tourettes (a regular doctor cant) best of luck with it.

Sounds like he could have a form of it but if I were you I would take him to a psychiatrist to rule it out. Maybe he is just aggitated and nervous. I am Bipolar and My eye and nose twitch. It has been embarressing to me most of my life. I also stutter when I get frustrated and I too have short term memory loss but I do not have tourette syndrome. I have a nervous problem which is being treated with Xanax and another drug. Please don't let him suffer with the anxiety and frustration that I have had to go through take him to a Psychiatrist as soon as possible. There is help for him. By the way I just redflagged redshe80 for the ignorant remarks made. I also suffer from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and it could be a form of that.

Probably not Tourette -- but he should be evaluted, especially if he is experiencing other things, such as thinking things that are false to be true and extreme temper. Keep a diary of his behavior for a week or so to explain to the doctor what is happening and when it is happening. (Kind of sounds like my dad, actually, and he was bi-polar, but never treated with medications after a short hospitalization (didn't believe the problem was *his* problem -- it was everyone else....)

There are a lot of diseases that do have these symptoms...anywhere from thyroid malfunction to a brain tumor. It does not necessarily mean that a person is mentally ill or have Tourette's Syndrome.

The first step would be for him to see his family medical doctor very soon. The doctor would check him out and refer him to a specialist if necessary.

Most of the people with Tourettes Syndrome also have Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder. It sounds to me like he may also be Bi-Polar.

Its not tourette syndrome, what we call as gillette de tourette syndrome. It is a rare condition which presents in early childhood and carries on.
The guy is suffering from a acute psycotic episode of brief duration it isnt schizoprenia either. Take him to a psychiatrist for help may put him on antipsychotic plus anxiolytic medication.

A physician

TS can be diagnosed by a Neurologist. Many people with TS can function well in society and hold a job. It sounds like your hubby may have other things going on.

It doesn't sound like Tourette's, which I have. More like a paranoid thing... schizophrenia? Or even manic-depressive/bi polar.

Was he like this when you met him or became this way after you married? That's the question you need to ask yourself then take him to the nearest mental hospital and check him in.
