It has to be with the recommendation of your teacher and the approval of your parents and the principal. You need to be making excellent grades and showing signs of emotional and social maturity. It is very rare for a student to skip a grade nowadays, since it puts him/her in a class of people that are more physically/socially mature. These days teachers prefer to put you in advanced placement classes or TAG (talented and gifted) groups, but leave you with your own age group.

I've been a teacher for 9 years and I've never seen an actual case of a child skipping a grade, and I've had some extremely bright students.

There could be many factors involved, one of which would be the maturity level of the student to be moved up, also the academic readiness level. Just because a child (student) is "gifted" doesn't mean that they are actually ready to be advanced another grade level. There are so many ways a child can be challenged in the regular classroom without the need to move them up. Hope this was helpful.

It is very unlikely unless you are extremely smart. Some people take the GED test or whatever to leave high school early to start college. That is possible if you are 16 or over. You just need to know basic skills but it should be a good reason if you are leaving high shool early.. like you want to be a pro basketball player and school does you no good. I want to get out of school just as much as you might do.. but we all gotta take it slow and just do what we gotta do to make it big one day.

ask a counselor at your school, as long as u can prove u r mature enough 2 handle urself in the advanced atmosphere, can pass the appropriate tests, and it's ok'd by the 'rents, u shouldn't have a problem....they may however suggest that u take some high school coarses until they feel u r ready 2 b bumped up.

you dont. u attend higher level sciences, a year in advance, but it doesnt jump you a grade. your still in, say, 8th grade... but your taking 9th grade classes, so you can graduate early or have extra classes that are needed in college.

This is almost never done in public schools. I suppose you could be homeschooled for a year, do two years of curriculum in one year, and then maybe test into the next year?
