My dog just came in from outside foaming at the mouth and blood all around her nose and mouth. I went outside and found a dead opposum. She hasn't had a rabies vaccine in over a year. Should I be worried? What should I do?

There are a couple of things that fit the bill but for either you should see a vet, immediately!
Rabbis although a concern would not show up that quickly, do you still have the opossum the vet will probably want to do a test on it!

Sounds like she probably did get into a fight with the opposum. It depends on where you live as far as rabies is concerned, but I would quarantine her at your house for 14 days anyway, leash walks to go potty only. However, you may want to get any bite wounds checked out by a vet.

As far as the parvo reference on the previous entry, probably not. With parvo, you will see bloody vomiting, bloody diarrhea, lethargy, not eating, etc.

no even if your late on the vac, you still have a time yo get the shot again, the foaming is from her killing the opposum and blood my dog in the sticks were i live kill them all the time, and she is fine , call your vet he will say come in for the shot

Rabies will not show up that fast... it has a two week incubation. Just get your dog to a vet as soon as you can and get it checked out.

you should take her/him to the vet to get her/him checked out to make sure that he/she doesn't have rabies.
