If cats don't have any control over the use of thier tails then why have them?

Hi there...as you may realize not all cats have long tails such as Japanese botails http://www.furrycritter.com/resources/cats/images/japanese_bobtail.jpg, pixie bobs http://www.hot.ee/kassikas/pixie-bob.jpg, manx' http://www.salonhogar.com/ciencias/animales/gatos/manx.jpg, etc.

I dont know because i have a cat with no tail(manx) he cant jump like cats with tails but climbs everything instead. I think a tail helps with balance and to tell you their moods.

They do, its used for balancing during running and jumping.
