i definately see your point and like the way its worded, but u left something out, they are also putting their faith on what scientists say, nothing that they have seen with their own eyes, just words of mouths , like they say christians are doing when we put our faith in Jesus

100% false...evolution is a scientific theory not a religion and to even pretend it is a religion is silly beyond "belief".
I believe in gravity so is that now a religion? I believe that music is one of the greatest creations of all time does that I mean I pray to melody+harmony?
definition of belief="something believed; an opinion or conviction"
definition of religion="a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe, esp. when considered as the creation of a superhuman agency or agencies, usually involving devotional and ritual observances, and often containing a moral code governing the conduct of human affairs."
definition of evolution "any process of formation or growth; development"
Just another example of religious fascism by claiming ownership of a word that was around WAY before the word religion and stating any belief at all is a religion.....what's next? Bread now can only be used by Christians? Selling wine makes your establishment a church? F'n ridiculous

Yet another person who does not understand that words have multiple definitions.
I don't believe in evolution. I know it happens. I believe in the current model for the phenomenon of evolution because it's the best we've got, but we know it needs some work, so I know it's going to change a bit. This isn't a problem, this is how science works.
We know, for example, that gravity exists. We believe relativity is a dang good model, but we know that relativity is missing some VERY important aspects of gravity (it's not quite compatible with quantum gravity, for example, and thus is incomplete/wrong at some level).

You can "believe" for many, many reasons.
If you believe because of faith, that might be religion (there's more to religion than just "faith").
If you believe because you are persuaded by evidence, that might be science (there's more to science than just "evidence").
But the simple use of the word "believe" means very little without the proper context and reasons.

Evolution is not a religion. Sure, they use the word believe, but would you consider Christianity a science if you said "I think Jesus died for my sins"? Your question suggests an ignorance of evolution, the concept of scientific theories (of course it's not proven, that's not how it works) and the English language.

The believe you are referring to is faith... Believe has more definitions than mere faith. Another definition is to suppose, assume, or understand... so in essence we are saying we suppose, assume, or understand evolution is the process by which life started... with the right conditions and enough time anything is possible.

I believe the Earth revolves around the sun. Does that mean that the heliocentric theory is a religion? I believe that the Internet is a great invention. Does that mean that I worship the Internet as my god?

Evolution is crap. I refuse to accept that I evolved from an ape. Even if you had proof I still wouldn't accept it. Just like a lot of people wouldn't accept God if there was physical evidence that He existed. It's my choice to say evolution was, is, and always will be rubbish. And no it's not a religion.

lokotz,
Not only that, but they act like a religion by trying to eliminate the other ones. They have some things that they refer to as evidence to support their theory and then call it fact. They have all kinds of faith to their theory, of which they do not have proof for. They attempt to proselytize any who come into their path with their dogma.
That sounds like a religion to me!

Evolution is not a religion because evolution is based on scientifically proven fact. No religion can claim this.
