It sounds like a memory problem. What you should do is goto control panel, choose internet options and select delete files under temporary internet files. Turn off your computer by choosing "shut down" NOT restart. Turn it on again and I'm sure it will work better.
Also spyware are known to cause memory problems, so scan to see if you have any of them. There are some good free anti-spyware software out there like ad-aware and spybot s&d. You can find them at www.download.com.

Another thing that will help is defragmenting your hard drive. The best way to do this is to start up the computer in safe mode, then click on start, programs, system tools and disk defragmenter. You want to run it from safe mode instead of normal mode so the program doesn't stop and restart because of resident programs that load up when you start the computer normally.

that used to happen to me ALL THE TIME i swear! sometimes the internet may not be working properly. if it consistently happens then you may want to get another form of internet connection (i switched from the netgear wireless connection thingie to a card that you put in your computer). if it doesn't happen a lot then you can just close the window (press end now on the window that pops up when you hit the close button) andgo back to the site.
