Unfortunately God is a very weak being...unable to show itself to more than a handful of people at a time...unable to wage war...unable to even write a book telling people what it wants.
So the omnipotent (hahaha) god has to rely on humans to convey messages for it...mostly messages of hatred and condemnation for those who distrust the "prophets"...
Sad isn't it???

First before I come back to your question, I'd like to respond to those who listed Sikhism & Judaism without any Prophets:
Yes, Judaism does have Prophets, the most important being Moses.
And Sikhism has Guru Nanak, as well as at least 10 or 11 subsequent gurus. (In addition, on a side note, I should also like to correct what that earlier poster said about Sikhism being a Hindu sect. It is not. It is its own religion.)
And as for Christianity, we Christians believe that Christ Is God Incarnate. However, with the exception of most Protestant sects, Christians revere the Blessed Virgin Mary, in the same way a Muslim would revere Muhammed, or a Jew would revere Moses or Abraham. The reason being, of course, is because she was Chosen By God to become the Mother Of Christ.
The reason for venerating a Prophet Of God, is because that Prophet was God's Instrument on earth, & therefore, a direct connection to the 1 True God Whom the seeker worships.
I'm going to say that those who suggested Deism are correct, as well as Elohism, which is similar to Deism, except for a few minor details.

G'day Las Vegas Steve,
Thank you for your question.
You could become a deist. Deism is a religious movement that originated in 17th and 18th century Europe and North America and continues in a mostly similar form today. Deism is a religious philosophy and methodology that asserts the existence of one God or supreme being. It holds that the proper source of religion comes from the exercise of human reason, the observation of the natural world (existence) and the utilization of personal experience with emphasis on individual freedom of thought. As such, Deists reject divine revelation and holy books, which in turn leads to the rejection of revealed religion.
Classical Deism held that a human's relationship with God was impersonal: God created the world by setting it into motion, but does not actively intervene in it by creating miracles, governing instead through Divine Providence. Modern Deism has expanded this classical view to state that humanity's relationship with God is transpersonal, and that any actions he might take to intervene are subtle and beyond human understanding.
I attach some sources for your reference.
Regards

Hope your sitting down L.V. Steve cause here it is! Although I am far from a religious fanatic I do believe in the Bible as merely a set of guidelines, after all the letters,{b i b l e }are just the BASIC INSTRUCTIONS BEFOR LEAVING EARTH. If you should open the book to ISAIAH 45:21,22 it reads as such,{...and there is no god else beside me; a just God and a Saviour;there is none beside me.
Look unto me,and be ye saved,ALL the ends of the earth;for I AM GOD ,and there is NONE ELSE. So you see STEVE there is a religion that states One god and One god only. As this is the religion I choose to believe in I still respect each persons right to choose the God of their preference as long as innocent people don"t need to die because of someone elses beliefs.

To these people that keep saying Judaism, does the name Moses mean anything to you? As for the Jesus is God answer, even if that is your faith, he clearly serves the function of a prophet so your religion has one.
Deism isn't an answer either because deism isn't even a religion in the formal sense. There are no congregations of worshiping deists anywhere. It simply means you believe in God but he has no function or interest in human life. He was the creator but that's it. Mostly its just a stepping stone to atheism.
I'm fairly certain Hinduism doesn't have a prophet. Also many tribal religions, such as native religions and natural religions like Wicca don't have prophets. So yes its entirely possible to have a religion without one. I think they just complicate things unnecessarily.

Even Satan believes in God so mere belief is not enough. Acceptance of God and His will is what is required. And Christians do not believe that Jesus was a prophet. Christians believe that Jesus is God made flesh. So really Christians believe in God and accept Him.

Of course belief in God is the corner stone of faith but faith as a spiritual, inner, experience, needs to be exteriorized-if I may use the word-through a set of rituals and a certain conduct and lifestyle. Hence the importance of prophets as role models, persons to be emulated

well Christians beleive Jesus IS God. SO ur stab at Christians really ddint go anywhere. However, since God did send prophets, it is only rational for us to believe them as well. Because if we didnt, we wouldnt be trusting in God who sent them.
The Bible is God's word. How can you beleive in God and not belive his word? answer me that.

The reason for that is that prophets were the ones who spread the words....while people were misguided ...they were sent to guide....
There had to be humans to spread the message....
thats the biggest challange ....to see if people believe without God actually having to tell them Himself
