Things taste better in certain portions? (I.E, chicken is better as popcorn chicken, sandwiches are better in little triangles, pizza tastes better in triangles)

b/c everything is made more precise and the foods ingredients can be savored more easily than in large amounts, the taste becomes more bland.

hmmm...good question! i never thought of it that way! maybe its because that's the "usual" way the food comes. i don't think popcorn chicken tastes better than usual chicken. but pizza and even sandwiches are serves as triangles, that's the norm. so maybe are brain is conditioned to believe that THAT is how it tastes best, or that is how it tastes normal! also, if u cut pizza or sanwiches in a different shape, u end up getting more crust- so maybe that's also a reason!

It has to do with esthetics. Food that looks good is preferred to food that does not look good. As for popcorn chicken being better than other chicken, it has to do with not only esthetics, but the amount of batter per portion. There is far more batter coating a nugget of chicken than in a similar amount of chicken on the bone. If you were to have a blind person taste test triangular pizza vs. square pieces, I doubt he would know the difference. The same goes for sandwiches in various shapes.

It has to do with the way it feels, the size of the bites in your mouth, and that popcorn and little triangles ROCK!

I once had a boyfriend who rolled up a medium, thin crust pizza like a taco and ate it that way - he said cutting it make some of the flavor leaked out. I really don't have anything important to add to the discussion - just that.

It is probably because we get so bored with the same food all the time that when it comes in a different package we trick ourselves into thinking the flavour is different

food that looks better actually tastes better. I don't know why but is is psychological.

less surface area means more of the seasoning & marinate get into the food before u cook it.
