I am looking for an Plasm HDTV within 37 and 42 inches preferably 40 inches, my price range is 0-2,300 dollars. If find a good deal on an lCD Tv then it would be good, no rear-projection tvs only flat panel. Thanks

For plasma, check Panasonic. For LCD, Sharp Aquos or Sony Bravia, In truth, there is not a big difference in picture quality, but the pictures "look" different. You should go to a store and look at both sets. Plasmas look "snappier" (bright colors, high contrast), while LCDs look smoother. Most LCDs will have higher resolution than the plasmas (check the pixel counts), but the difference isn't great. In all other respects, both kinds will offer good performance and durability. LCDs look better in bright room environments, plasmsa look better in darker rooms. Plasmas are heavier and use more power, get warmer during operatlion. Do not believe stories about plasmas having short lifetimes, or need "recharging"; none of that is true anymore. Even "burn-in" (permanent retention of an image that was stationary on the screen for a long time), which is a concern with plasmas, has been significantly reduced and is no longer an issue under normal use (TV viewing). So, look at the sets, look at the specs, and make your own decision.

Anyone that I know that has bought a Plasma tv has regretted it. The tv gets very hot and needs to be shut of after a few hours of use. I have the Toshiba 52" Dlp and I love it, best money I spent. I would buy Toshiba.
