Because it is also a nation that in its constitution declares: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

Atheists choose to live in a country that believes in freedom of religion. Wouldn't militant theists want to "flee a nation like that ASAP?"

Because some people with brains have to keep this country from totally going to hell.
And that idiotic passage was added in the early 50s and fortunately was never part of the founders of this country. Things are just getting messed up by the late starters, as usual. Same crap that made the Roman Empire fall...

I am an Agnostic...close to Atheist..lol....Simple though...it would be a different thing entirely if the words were "In Jesus we trust" or "In the Bible God we trust"....
Christians do not have exclusive rights to the definition of the word "God"...it is instead a generic term which can be applied to ANYONE's beliefs concerning a creator.
As an example...when I speak of God, I am not speaking about some flawed being which throws temper tantrums and gets jealous over a statue made out of mud. When I speak of God, I am not talking about a violence obsessed being who seems to enjoy murdering innocent woman and infants.
When I use the word God...the word and the definition belong to me and me alone if I so wish it.

Did you know that half of the founding fathers of this country were agnostic. The in God we trust is a violation of the seperating of church and state, and was written in later on in the history of this country late 1950s I believe. If you really want to sound smart you should read up on your own countries history.
Shake off all the fears of servile prejudices, under which weak minds are servilely crouched. Fix reason firmly in her seat, and call on her tribunal for every fact, every opinion. Question with boldness even the existence of a God; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason than that of blindfolded fear.

Why do christians choose to live in a country that has seperation of church and state. The answer is we live here moron. by the way that isn't are motto, that was put on a dollar bill later. I believe the motto is E. pluribus unum, which is latin for (out of many, one) refering to how we have many states, but we are all under one flag.

The thing that is there are no atheists. It was a word someone came up with to basically try to not responsible for their actions to God so that they could keep on doing what they want. See they think if they say they don't believe in god that it will excuse them from the responsibility of their actions but it doesn't they just live in denile and hate towards God but let something go wrong in their lives and they cry to God quick like the rest of the world explain this to me??!!

The freedoms and comforts offered by our great nation have a much stronger pull factor than a motto has a push factor.
