I am waiting to here back from the administrative branch of the RAMADA Hotel chain. While picking up the suit the day we were leaving, I noticed spots of blood on the matress under the sheets! What should I say to the RAMADA people when they call back? I took pictures of the bloody grapefruit sized mess. It was just a stain and not wet so I'm feeling pretty confident that I wasn't infected with anything, however, I am still very unsettled. How could anything they would offer compare to a lifetime with a blood born pathogen/disease? Free future stays (at a minimum) at another location just seems so minimal. Where was it you wonder??? Two blocks from the Target Center in downtown Minneapolis. I'm waiting to hearback from the Minneapolis Inspection folks as well. You'd hope (though my gut tells me otherwise) that hotels don't just flip these stained things over to accomodate future guests. GROSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Didn't see it until getting ready to leave from recreational weekend in downtown Minneapolis. The assistant manager confirmed it was blood but was only authorized to take off 25%. I was just a guest... somebody else paid. The part that gets me is that I WAS the one sleeping on top of were this was!!! Put yourself in my shoes... I'm a reasonable guy, but I know when lines have been crossed.

I'm so sorry that happened to you! That is absolutely disgusting. I think you've done everything you possibly can, but really what can they do to make you feel better?? I don't think I can ever stay in a Ramada again. Thanks for the heads up.

Yes, quite GROSS!!! Also quite inexcusable.... having worked in a variety of hotels as a chef, I have learned a few things over the years that hopefully will allay any fear of infection. Hotels use diluted hydrochloric acid as laundry detergent to SANITIZE their linens prior to use of a softener and final drying. Reason being that the acid will KILL ALL bacteria as well as ticks and lice. Also quite gross.

As a guest, I hope you reported this condition ASAP to the front desk. At the MINIMUM, you should have been transferred to another room, and been sent to the Hotel restaurant.... both on the house. If you are a repeat guest and stay with Ramada when you travel, be certain to remind them of that. Hotels are extremely competitive and a reputable one will do almost anything within REASON to keep you coming back and spending with them. I honestly doubt you will get totally free future stays, free suite upgrades and complimentary dinners excluding alcohol might be something that you could vie for instead.

I'm sorry to hear about your experience and don't stay at a Marriottt or Marriot owned property EVER.... trust me on this one!!

I work with Holiday Inn Express....

My main concern would be that you didn't contact the front desk as soon as you noticed the stain... When a guest makes a complaint to us- our primary concern is to make them happy.

Firstly, we offer to move there room. When a guest does not com plain about there stay until we check out- this is our defense. We feel that they did not give us the opportunity to correct the situation.

In re guards in what to explain to the customer relations. I would simply explain that you are horrified when you see blood. Knowing that the housekeepers noticed and nothing was done... and you slept with it not knowing.....makes you think twice in what is expected in the Ramada Inns. You are extremely disappointed and in discuss In your case you were unable to contact the desk, because you were just leaving.

In re guard to hotel flipping mattresses.... Well I can tell you many owners will do what ever they can to save $$$ I have worked with 4 hotels in this area- all owned by "foreigners" boy do I have stories..

I make sure I never sleep with there blankets... just the fact that someone else slept with em.... who knows the last time they were washed. Bring lysol where ever you go!!!!!!

Any time I use a public pool- i make sure i shower soon after..... especially a hot tub

I've had that happen to me a couple times and in reputable hotels too! I've always asked, and was given another room. One time, when I was really tired and had to get up in a few hours for a meeting, just slept on top of the blankets then complained at checkout and recv'd a full refund.

That's horrible. I work in a hotel and we check for that kind of thing. If any blood is found on something we discard it. How repulsive. I would have stormed over to that hotel front desk and raged!!.. they really owe you.. Tell them how it is. Demand proper compensation. Also, get yourself checked out by a MD. Hope that you didn't catch anything sleeping on such a discusting bed.

Wow that is a tough one wow! I wish you luck I would at least get an aids test or a Hep B, C test. to make sure you didn't catch anything. yuck!! Keep info coming. I wouldn't mention it any more until you hear back from them don't want to ruin your case. Did you go there on business or pleasure. They may not pay if it was a business trip they may not give you any personal compensation. Good luck.

Makes you wonder what might beon the other side of the mattress. Spray with Lysol or dab spot with alcohol ... either will kill just about anything.
But really you are a paying customer, and if it were ME, I would insist on a different room.

that is really disgusting, if you had noticed it earlier you could have asked for another room. unfortunately most hotels would not give any kind of compensation for this. as to the health worries - get a grip, it was dry, under sheets.
