Well, studies have shown that there is no real answer as to why dogs spin in circles before the lay down. Some dog specialists and psychologists think that it is a way to get that last boost of energy and stimulances out of their brains, but this is not proven to be entirely true. Some dogs don't spin in circles before they lay down, such as mine. She just plops down wherever without wasting any time. But if you really, truly want to find out for sure, look it up; see if you can find anything worth believing! Good luck! :)))

Is that the only time she does it- when she gets excited?
I would try to practice some diversion tactics for her.
Stage a mock trigger and re direct her attention away from the trigger.
If it's the door bell and visitors, have a friend or neighbor ring the doorbell-while you get her interested in a toy, a treat or something else.
Good luck!

Where did you get her, how old is she...... i brought a dog once from a mall,, can't stand to see the poor thing in the cage after 3 months,, was sinful to me to see that........... never saw a happier and loving dog,,,, only thing was when she ran from one room to another...... it was in circles,,,,, first i laughed, but then realized it was from being caged up for so long, it did mentally affect her, I say that sadly...
