Yup. We had International Club at my school. One of my friends was a girl named Solvieg who was an exchange student from Iceland. I also had another friend from Turkey named Naz (though she didn't stay very long, unfortunately). One of the most popular guys at school (when I was a freshman, anyway) was this guy from Russia, whose name I cannot remember, unfortunately. There was also this guy from Italy who was apparently extremely hot.
You get exchange students in college too. One of my roommates last year was this girl from Uruguay named Jennifer (who's still here, actually, she's just not my roommate anymore). And just the other day I talked to this cute guy from Chile, whose name I cannot pronounce -_-;;. I also know someone from Poland and someone from Germany, and someone from France (his name is Romain and he's kind of a jerk). Oh! And someone from Georgia (who's also a jerk, apparently, but, like, a cool jerk...or something. I dunno, it's weird).
So, yeah. I've come into contact with lots of exchange students. They seem to like Minnesota, for some reason.

in my school (germany) we had regular exchange programmes with a high school in new jersey and a lycee in france. the exchanges went on for three weeks every year and we had an honoured tradition of getting the americans drunk at the welcome party. ;-) they were nice people, and we usually had a good time together, and the people that actually did make it onto the exchange (it was a lucky dip) improved their english a good bit. it was different with the french exchange students, they tended to stick together and didn't mix much with us. we also got a lot of exchange students for the school year, loads of people from iceland, weirdly enough. they were cool, and you'd learn a lot from them regarding language skills. i also remember a really nice girl from uruguay who was actually living in my neighbourhood and a couple of fairly cool americans. a lot of these exchanges resulted in lasting friendships between the families, which is a really good thing as far as i can see it.

Yes, I personally knew two of them. Juan was from Mexico, he was not hard on the eyes either. He was very charming and an overall nice guy. Maggie was from Sweden and she was very interesting. She had a harder time understanding American culture. For example she thought that "hot dogs" were really made of dogs!!!
Both of them learned a lot from us, and we leamed a lot from them. I think that exchange students are a great way for both countries to learn about each other.

We had several while I was in high school, I think the one that I got to know the most was a girl from Chile, we all still trade Christmas cards and photos with her even 6 years later. It was great to learn about a new culture.

Yes, we had a guy named Franz from Germany for a year, he was relatively quiet (expected) until he went with myself and the french club to NYC...we had an absolute blast and then from then on untill the rest of his time in the states, he was completely different...out of his shell and unbelievably comical.

Sure our's came from South Africa and Ireland when I was in High School and in college we had some from Ireland, Morocco and Mongolia. That cat from Mongolia was crazy and man could he drink! The guys from Ireland turned me on to Soccer. And come to think about it we had a guy from Iran, he had some weird jokes that he would tell that no one ever got. He also could drink!
