I need privacy when I go, so if the fence was gone, your dog got upset at the broken routine, and now is confused. Put some of her poop in the yard. It might help.

It may take her a while to get used to the new backyard. Just be patient and work with her. Praise her and give her a treat ever time she goes pee or poo in the back yard. If she doenst go dont make a big deal out of it and try again later. Sooner or later she will have to go potty.

As my father in law puts it. Dogs won't $hit where they live if they can help it. If she sees the back yard as her home she won't go there. If she has the choice of going somewhere else. Kind of like when a dog is crate trained. You porbably need to put the fence up so she doesn't have a choice.

Is it possible to get some of the old fence? Put it out for her and gradually cut pieces off. It will slowly go away making the transition easier.
When she poops, say, "good girl, go poop" (or think of something nicer), and praise her. She will eventually go on command, which should make it easier to get her to go where you want her to.
Good Luck.

My dog is kind of the same way. He is a min pin and he used to use the bathroom in our yard all the time. Now though that he is a few months older, he has gotten more territorial I guess. I dont know. But all we have to do is walk him down the street and he has no problems going! They are crazy but I couldnt live without my little guy!!
