If I cook it (slow cooker) will it lose the bitterness, or do I have to find another one?

Honestly, I've never eaten one. It just needs to be cooked. Broccoli tastes bitter unless you cook it, too. You don't have to use a slow cooker for a turnip. You can boil them; I know people put them in stews.

Turnip: A root vegetable with a sharp flavor that mellows and sweetens when cooked.

Turnips are bitter until cooked or boiled which releases the natural sugars in them to get rid of the bitterness.

When raw, turnips are somewhat bitter but that will all mellow out and go away in the cooking process.

i've always found most turnups to be bitter raw. but as soon as they get cooked everything is great. I hope you're making a nice veggie soup.

They're much sweeter cooked than raw. Go ahead and use it.
