I met this guy, Mike, the first day of my freshman year in high school. He was a geek, no question about it. He didn't want to be a geek but he just was. He was incredibly bright. He was in love with me and I spent a lot of time holding him off, you know, telling him I wanted to be friends, we'd meet up at the dance or the movie theater, etc. Eventually I got to really like him and we dated a little the summer of sophomore year. Then I moved away and we broke up due to distance. However, we maintained a friendship and got back together in our early 20s. By that time he was really HOT and even though it didn't work out in the end, I spent a lot of time thinking about him over the years. I still dream about him sometimes, even though I'm happily married with 5 kids.
I wouldn't put much credence what other people think about a guy who may now qualify as a "dork" or a "geek." They grow up and can turn into something incredible. Give him a chance...I wish I hadn't squandered my opportunity to be with him as his girlfriend. Mike was really smart and interesting and I enjoyed, at the time, "torturing" him by denying him but it was wrong of me to do this. I regret it now.
Good luck!

Sweetie there will come a day, I guarantee it, that you will wish you had that "dork" back in your life. You sound really young...and I envy you your youth, but not your niavte. When you have had your fill of the "really hot cool guys" and all of their crap, then you will think longingly of the memories of your first "dorky" boyfriend.
The older you get the more you will appreciate the gifts he brings to your relationship. Value them.

Look, do him a favour: dump him. That you can ridicule him in front of the thousands of people on Yahoo! Answers doesn't suggest you have much respect for him, nor any particular liking for spending time with him. Find someone a little closer to your mental age, hopefully he'll find someone he actually has a chance of being happy with.

I've 'dated' a dork and ya you get those looks, but they just are as cocky as the other guys and are really sweet.

Yes, sometimes it was great because he was so passionate about certain things and it transferred to him being passionate about me. But at the same time I quickly became bored, he never wanted to take any chances or risks in life, always wanted to take the tried and true road.
