I believe in the Word of God and that is the book called the Bible.
I believe there is a heaven because Jesus told us there is. There is a room waiting for us.
Now, if like you said there was not a heaven, but you were a true believer, that would be horrible in the end. Look at it like this, at least you went through this life with a strong belief, a belief that changed your life, a belief that made you a better person because you did believe in God. That would not be that bad
would it. Just being able to love God with all your heart and soul, and He love you right back. Not too bad. End your fears, there is a heaven, it says in the Bible and the Bible is the Word of God.

i didn't start to fully appreciate life until i realized that this might be "all there is" (although it is so much better than that statement implies).
I do not believe in heaven, hell, or any deities; however, I believe in living to love (it is my goal that when i interact with people, i want to leave them feeling better than they did before). Also, since matter cannot be created or destroyed, we will always exist in some form, whether we are conscious or not.
Also, is it possible that when we die our spirit/consciousness remains on earth? The voice of an old Japanese woman spoke through my parent's freezer last year...she was singing and seemed peaceful. But she wasn't in heaven, she was in my parent's freezer!

I think this is how we come to true faith. We have to question what we believe and come up with satisfactory answers for those beliefs, or we really do not have true faith that will stand up to inquiry. Asking questions is not anti-Christian or anti-Biblical. The Bible tells us to question everything, just as the Bereans did with Paul's teachings (Acts 17:11). If the Bereans were of noble character for questioning Paul, are we not of noble character for questioning the things anyone tells us?
So, search for the truth. If you believe in God, read the Bible and ask if God inspired what was written. Pray to the God you believe in and listen, inwardly, for an answer to your questions. You will be guided, and you will learn the truth.

It wouldn't be like eternal sleep. It would be nonexistence.
I do not believe in any form of afterlife.
I have no problem realizing this is the one and only life, and living for a possible afterlife is just plain foolish.

Let me ask you this... do you really think that only ONE person could have wrote the entire Bible? Evidence shows that it was written over a period of many years, by many different authors (each writer has his/her own distinct writing style--- Moses wrote a lot different from Solomon who wrote differently from David who wrote differently from Matt, Mark, Luke and John...etc) But anyway, think about how many pages are in a Bible, I don't know too many people who can write that many pages, do you? its natural to doubt, that is Satan playing on your doubts. The only way not to Heaven is by not believing in Christ.

What you describe is the Buddhist concept of Nirvana. You are free to believe what you like but don't claim to be a Christian.

well, better safe than sorry. I always explain it this way. If I am wrong about salvation, Jesus, God, heaven, then when we die, we just die. Nothing more or less. But if I am right about salvation, Jesus, God, heaven and you are wrong, then what???

Many of us believe there is no heaven. And it doesn't compel us to take life or morality any less seriously. Life and us; that's all we have and it's enough.

These are brain washing techniques bible thumpers use:
"You don't believe in God enough." "You need to pray HARDER." "Pray for guidance." "That's satan giving you those ideas. Pray harder." "You have to have faith."
They don't answer you really, they just make you feel like you're the one who is in the wrong. Embrace those curious urges. Research and make your own conclusions.

then you don't trust God and His truth.
do you really think people who are so cruel and selfish will get away without punishment?
do you really think God would forsake His children (those that are saved) and break His promises?
