I'm 18 years old and I snowboard. ( hint hint, I need a car to fit my board on or in or both) I don't want a granny car, but I also can only afford so much. I will pay no more than $4,000. I don't want a ford and i can't get an SUV. So don't even sugest it. I need something that has good mpg and is safe and reliable.

Find a nice used Subaru 5dr. You could likely find one for that and may also find one with AWD (All Wheel Drive).

and look for cars under $4,000 in your zip code. From my experience, I would suggest a 99 Neon with 5 speed - your snowboard will fit if the back seats are down and you have front wheel drive to negotiate the mountains and the like. Neons get over 35 MPG and are safe and reliable.

If you have $4000 to spend get any thing that is a good car and put a carrying rack on the top for less than $100...it's easy

Subaru Imprezza wagon, if there's a reasonable supply of used ones in your area and a mechanic who will work on it.
Saturn SW-series would be my second choice. I'll bet you could fit that board in a Honda Civic hatchback, too.

I got a 99 GMC Sonoma stepside for 4 grand. Great mpg and cheap insurance and you can haul anything,,,

toyota, mazda, and honda are all good on gas and will go on miles and miles. They dont seem to fall apart!
