I used f-conn and barrell connectors at the splice. BNC connectors at the cameras and recorder.

I have mixed those cables for cable TV with no problem. They are both 75-ohm cables, so their transmission-line characteristics are identical. RG-6 is more rugged and has less signal loss than RG-59, so it is best to use that wherever possible, and especially if long runs (more than 100') are involved. But joining them is no problem

It will work. You are only transmitting a channel. The attenuation on RG-6 & 59 is pretty low on the low channels, where you will be transmitting. However if your camera is transmitting up high, like at 70's or so, then you may see problems. I doubt you will, though. Now, if it was for cable TV, then you'd have a problem.
