You really need to do crunches instead of a full sit up. Turns out that it really is the first part of the sit up that is most effective.

After reading your added details, maybe you could either get a lap top computer or lower your keyboard and mouse to the floor so that you can do crunches or sit ups while you're working. Just spending some of the the time you are at the computer moving can really burn off added weight.

My ideas? Try to do 200 minutes of cardio a week. Remember fat does not turn into muscle, so you need to lose your fat while putting on muscle. Work hard, but don't over 60 minutes at a time. Do planks and other abs exercises on alternate days.

On training days, do 5-10 minutes of cardio to warm up, then do your weight training. Do 30 to 60 minutes more of cardio, then go home.

The best time to eat is just after your workout within an hour when your metabolism is raging. For your muscles, incorporate some isolated soy protein or whey protein. Whey is more potent but the soy tastes better!

Don't look at your scale as the be all and end all, but get a measuring tape to check your progress, and that will show more tangible results.

Read magazines like Shape, Womens Fitness, Fitness, etc to get tips and to stay motivated.

Good luck and stick at it. This plan has lost me 20 lbs in 12 weeks so far, just go for it!

Don't wait toolong!!!!I waited till I was 36 to loose weight and exercise. I spent alot of my time on everyone else. It is a good feeling but you need to take care of yourself to be totally happy. I let it go again and now I'm older it will be harder, but I'm ready. Do it make the time, I am older and the best times of my long life are when I was thin. Take deep breaths before each exersize and on the 3rd repitition hold to the count of 10. Your metabolism will speed upquicker and you will firm up faster. Do just 2 parts of your body to start for 2 months. Then when you feel better about yourself you can include 2 more problem spots.

Get a "swiss ball", those are thos big exercise balls.
Lie back on them, don't strain your neck and let your abs do all the work.
You should be able to do this in little pieces all during the day.
Make your fiancee give you some time to really work out, don't take no for an answer.

I don't really have a solution to your problem but I wanted to say I can relate with you. Loosing or flattening our stomachs is the worst thing in the world to do. Good luck to you
