Sounds fine to me. She's an adult making a living teaching ... it's a job. She has concerns about her child going to public school ... it's not necessarily the teaching it's more likely the drugs, crime and the required association of kids involved in both.

No. Like a lot of public school teachers, she realizes that the public schools often fail children: large classes, inflexible curriculum, too much teaching to the test without a real education, stressed teachers. She has decided that her children can get a better education at home. Many public school teachers put their kids in private school. Just because someone works in the system, it doesn't mean they believe it for their own kids.

Do you mean the logic behind someone making a decision to do what's best for her particular children in her particular situation, and also making a decision to provide financially for her family in the best possible way for her particular family in their particular situation?
Because I really thought you were asking what is the logic behind you standing in judgment over what someone else is doing with their life.
And no, your teacher is not an idiot. And since you are a child, I will not accuse you of being an idiot, either. instead I will simply point out that you are misguided and misinformed, and a bit on the judgmental side.

No, she is not an idiot nor is she crazy. She is doing what she feels is best for her children.
Just an aside... homeschooling can be done even with working parents because it doesn't need to be done at set hours like in the schools. Also, many children are autodidactic by nature and do not need anyone around to 'teach' them anything. If they are of age to be home alone, and the child is trustworthy, there is no reason why a parent would even need to be there.

Maybe she just disagrees with the education system that the state you are in has.. but simply i would think she is crazy in a way due to the massive amount of work required to teach her own students and to do her job as a teacher effectively.. takes quite a bit to be a teacher overall, doubt she would spend enough time with her kids :P

First of all, who are to judge?
She probably homeschools her children because she has firsthand experience with the poor quality of education offered in public schools and the growing trend towards censorship pertaining to personal rights and freedom of religion.
If she is in any way religious and not an atheist or scientologist, she may object to evolution and other theories being shoved down her kids throats. I know I do.
Lastly, unless you are Donald Trump and wealthy, she has to work and pay bills. Maybe too she loves her job, just not the school itself.

Whoa! How can she homeschool her kids if she is in public school teaching all day? you have to be at home to home school your children.
Your question doesn't make sense -- unless you are saying that she home schooled her kids (past tense, as in the kids are now grown up).
Not everyone can home school their children. Not everyone wants to. If she home schooled hers, more power to her. Perhaps with that experience under her belt, she wants to help ensure that other kids can get the best possible education they can, in a public school classroom. It's the next best thing to staying home and home schooling your neighbors kids. And it pays better.
I don't think that makes her an idiot, nor does it make her crazy.

Your high school teacher probably home schools her children because she would like to offer her children because parents like having control over the direction their children's lives take, and since she's a teacher, she knows she's at least qualified to give them the kind of education that they need. She knows them best and she can give them one-on-one attention that way.
It's a pretty cool idea as long as you can find some way to get them into high school age activities anyway.

Just because one person chooses to have their children homeschooled doesn't mean they think everybody should be homeschooled.
My dh is a jr. high teacher and we homeschool our kids.
EDITED TO ADD:
And frankly, I don't see how it's any different than a public school teacher sending her kids to a private school or a private school teacher sending her kids to a public school. They're different choices for one's children, not judgements about what they think other people should be doing.

Being a teacher I can relate to her. She might feel as if she can give them a better education if she is a great teacher and can give them the time and information that they need. She might feel as if other teachers aren't as proficient as she is. There could be many reasons for this. They might have developmental problems. I wouldn't call her an idiot; you don't know the reasoning behind her decisions.
