Why are some kids athletic?

2006-09-13 14:34:25 · answer #1 · answered by Mosaic 4 · 1 0

Remember that kids are just younger adults, so this is the same as asking why some people are athletic and others aren't. A lot of factors are the reasons behind this, including their upbringing, metabolism and personal habits. Some people are brought up as couch potatoes and grow up to be very competitive and athletic, Others are very energetic and involved in sports as children and grow up to be fat and non-exercisers. Lifestyles change.

Why can some kids sing and why can some kids play the piano or drums? Some kids are great at tennis but are awful at soccer and vice-versa.

If kids are non-athletic, they just were born that way, no matter how hard they try, they will never be athletic.

Various reasons. Sometimes it's genetics, sometimes it's environment. As a general rule, upbringing has a huge part to play. If all their role models and friends play sports, so will they. If their siblings watch TV all day, then they'll be encouraged to as well. Some kids just aren't able to like sports for whatever reasons, but if you can convince them it's fun, then they'll start doing it more often.

I wish I could play sports more. I have a heart condition that limits my potential. Sucks.

Because everyone is different. Because some do not feel the need to compete in that way, because they have been pressured possibly too much by a well meaning parent, because they lack confidence to participate in a group sport where they will be judged possibly by their peers. Just because. It does not mean they do not enjoy physical activity, they just do not like to be on an organized team.

Kids need supervision and sometimes it isn't possible for parents to take their kids out to get additional exercise after school.

They are lazy. Probably hereditary, or perhaps learned from watching mom and pop sit on the couch staring at the boob tube. For you unenlightened ones, that is a TV.
