It seems like now that I have children of my own, the way I was disciplined isn't the "right" way anymore. Now they say not to spank because it will make the child violent( I was spanked but I've NEVER been violent". When I was younger, I would have to bite down on a bar of soap is I cussed. I'm nearly 21 and to this day I don't cuss in front of my parents. What are they going to consider abuse next; not buying your child a toy? not letting your child get their way? Are we as parents going to eventually get told we're abusing our kids for telling them no?

oh i totally agree with you. The kids that are in high school and younger didn't get many spankings due to this deal....and look how inconsiderate they are..troubled kids....they needed their *** beat.......but no don't touch them. some kids are so bossy with their parents that it is sickening, but lets not spank....this world is gonna be a treat in another 20 or 30 years when these kids grow up...

Many behavior problems in children occur after they are abused physically or verbally. I see abused children abusing others the same way they are abused. Abuse is considered anything that causes physical or emotional damage. My Mom and Dad both gave us "swats" when we were bad. They were hard enough to keep us from repeating the behavior, but not hard enough to cause any damage (no bruising). I believe that spanking is a good way to discipline children if done correctly (on the bottom) and does not cause physical harm. I also think parents should try the least harmful method of discipline first - time out, loss of privileges, etc.

there's nothing wrong with spanking your children. although i have read that if you spank them on the butt too hard, it can actually keep them from going to bathroom. its weird, i know. there is no one correct way of disciplining a child, it just depends on the kid. i have a 4 year old daughter and she is afraid of the belt. i would never use it on her but you can use it to get her to listen to you. if you can i would say try to reason with the kids. people who think that spanking your child is abuse are just one sided. if they can find a way that will settle a kid down when they are going crazy (w/o using drugs) then i would like to know. sometimes yelling at the kids to show them your angry doesn't work, then what? people just take it too seriously when they see someone disciplining their child by spanking. its NOT abuse, its parenting.

There are too many people now days who don't know how to mind their own business and raise their own kids, instead of telling you how to raise yours. Now days you can' t even spank your kid in public or someone will call CPS. It is rediculous. Kids now days are 10 times worse than kids were 100 yrs ago. Is it a coinsidence that 100 yrs ago kids got spanked, punished with hard labor and made to do chores from the time school let out till they went to bed? That is how it was for my parents and both of them are respectful and hard working and have never been in jail or any trouble with the law, and have never been in debt.

I AGREE!!! I swear people look at you like you are sooo terrible if you discipline your child. Heaven forbid you punish your child for doing something they weren't supposed to!!! There is nothing wrong with spanking. All these "experts" are just freudian idiots who probably don't have kids of their own or were seriously abused as kids. You discipline your kids the way you see fit.

I totally agree with you. I am 31 and i was also spanked and had soap in my mouth. I am not a violent person either. I want to raise my kids to have respect for their elders and to be polite and all that. But it is hard with some of theese laws.

My neighbors g'son just got in trouble in school. He is 15. He smacked a skinny little girl in the face & almost broke her jaw. The local cops were called to the school but nothing was done. When the Mom got there she told the boy she was gona' beat his butt when she got him home. The cop turned around & gave the boy his card & told him if your Mom hits you call me & she will go to jail. The sheriff told her to have a man go with her & take him to the country where no one could see or hear. Then really give it to him & if it was done right he would be too afraid to call the law. This is why we have so many young gansters. They should get their butt whipped once a month whether they need it or not.

"docs" are already engaged on how taking toys from toddlers to apply as disapline will in straightforward terms reason a newborn to scouse borrow in a protracted time questioning it is positive. My wager.....something that could desire to reason actual or psychological harm could be abuse. A confirm can take a toy forcefully from a newborn and others can see it as "abuse". Or blurt out the fusterating, "you're certainly one of those discomfort interior the neck!" throughout the time of a tantrum and that they are in reformatory for psychological abuse. distinctive parenting strategies are inflicting too various of a concern, whilst will some mothers and dads discover ways to truly look into earlier calling the police on somebody?

girl don't worry about what other people say because you can't just reason with a child, you have to be the adult and if that means a spanking here and there, then I say GO FOR IT!!!!!
