I've been there for sure. I had to have a mastoidectomy. I had it does in the early 1970's so it was pretty bad! However, today it is much different and at the very least you might want to bring this up the next time you see the doctor. The widespread use of antibiotics is a major problem and the cause for such surgery.

We had the same thing in our home last year. Some bacteria are becoming resistant to antibiotics due to overusage. Always know that even without treatment (like you said when you're trying everything and nothing works), an ear infection does clear up on it's own, without any side effects. It's just a hassle to have it until it clears. You should see an ENT, but sadly non-responsive bacteria is not so uncommon anymore.

It might be fungal and their treating bacterial. Are you going to an eye,ear nose specialist? If not I would advise that you did. reoccurring is either they are not getting it totally or it's not a broad enough spectrum drug. I'm thinking after 12 it's something else. You may have inner ear.... many need tubes temporarily.... But that is the specialist that can handle your problems he sees that stuff all the time. Teeth can even cause frequent ear and sinus problems believe it or not. Good Luck Hope I was of help:-)

Many children who have constant ear infections actually are allergic to something they are eating (usually dairy). Elliminating foods they are allergic to usually helps. Maybe you could keep track of what you are eating and see if there is anything in particular that you eat more of when you get a flare-up. It could also be an external allergy - like an allergy to your laundry detergent or shampoo or soap. Have you made any changes in these in the past 3 years.
I don't get full blown ear infections but when I eat certain things I find I wake myself up in the night because I am digging in my ears and scratching them almost to the point they bleed. Good luck to you.

Have you gotten your IgA, IgG and IgM levels tested? You may have a week immune system. This could be from anything from not eating right, to improper iron levels, to a bad heart. But a CAT scan of your head should be a priory. It could be a mechanical problem that your ears aren't draining properly. I thought for sure I had sinus infections until a CT scan, but it was a mechanic problem. I had a deviated septum in my nose. And my fatigue was caused by reduced blood flow to my heart which weaken my whole body. I'm younger than you.

Even though this usually happens in children you could have water or fluid in your ears. For this what they do is put a little tube in your ear for the fluid to come out. You do not feel it and the tube just comes out by itself. This happened to my son and never again had an ear infection. Good luck.

you could get a myringotomy, which is a small surgically done perforation in your ear drum. this would allow air to get into your middle ear and dry up the fluid. you may also have Eustation tube dysfunction which could be treated by steroids...

You probably need to see a ear nose and throat specialist. You probably also need tubes in your ears.
