So many people claiming to be Christian are so filled with hatred, it frightens me. Aren't Christians supposed to take Jesus as their role model? When did he hate? When did Jesus turn his back on someone or say their life was worthless because they did not believe? Doesn't the story of the good Samaritan teach that we are not to judge a person based on his ethnicity or religion, but only according to his deeds?

Martin S, what you quoted seems to be strongly against evangelism. If you are not to exchange even a greeting with an unbeliever, does that mean a missionary is a sinner? What happened to "whatever you do to the least of my people, you do to me"? If the unbeliever is not "of my people" does that mean the the good Samaritan is not "of my people"?

This is a great question. I like that you state, "so many people claiming to be Christian are so filled with hatred". It has to be considered that some people are in fact only pretending to be Christians.

I am not a Christian myself, but I find it hard to believe that logical people who read the Bible and respect/worship Jesus Christ, could possibly be hateful and judgmental. I have seen posts from some Christians that actually made me consider Christianity as a loving, understanding religion.

In my opinion, you are correct....the story of the good Samaritan does teach a lesson about kindness, compassion and love. Jesus went after the lost sheep, he did not criticize and call them names. My answer is....I don't think there is anything in the New Testament about hating those who have different beliefs.

So many people think God is just about love. Yes, it is true we cannot even begin to comprehend His love, but He is so much more. People shouldn't misinterpret tough love and truth for hatred. Jesus is God and has said in no uncertain terms that, yes, if you do not believe in Him your life is absolutely worthless. It would be better if you were never even born. Does that sound insensitive and harsh? I think it does too, but that is reality and He's the one that sets the standards, not us. I'd rather have someone tell me the truth about what God says will happen to a non-believer than to whitewash the most important decision they will ever make. God, who is judge, says the only way to heaven is through the Son Jesus Christ. Deeds and works may get you somewhere in the world, but it earns you nothing with God. Is a believer suppose to walk up to a Muslim, pat him on the back and say everything is going to be great? When you know in your heart and God has said that they will burn in hell. As will everyone who doesn't accept Christ as their savior. That is the hard truth and it does no good to be anything but straightforward.
Tell me what is love? Standing by and watching a building burn, that is ready to collapse, but has a child inside screaming for help or taking action, making the hard choice and taking the chance that you may get badly burned if you go in to that building and rescue that child. The answer is simple. Just like that burning building, we are running out of time. I agree, it is wrong to be harsh and curt, but look at what the outcome will or won't bring. Besides, a Christian's job is to spread His Word, not try and sugar coat it so you won't be offended. It's each persons own responsibility to choose or not to choose Christ. They either ask for His guidance or they don't and He either accepts or He doesn't depending on what is truly in their heart. No person can turn someone away from believing in Christ, that is an excuse and an awfully bad cop out.

It doesn't say to "hate" such people, but it does say this.

2 John 1:7 For many deceivers have gone out into the world, those who do not confess the coming of Jesus Christ in the flesh. Such a one is the deceiver and the antichrist. 8 Watch yourselves, so that you may not lose what we have worked for, but may win a full reward. 9 Everyone who goes on ahead and does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God. Whoever abides in the teaching has both the Father and the Son. 10 If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not receive him into your house or give him any greeting, 11 for whoever greets him takes part in his wicked works.

We are supposed to love God and people! The only thing we should hate is sin not sinners!

Never hate people, hate sin, not the sinner.

Jesus had compassion on the masses, he saw them as dumb sheep without a shepherd. Especially those who thought they knew all the answers.

Atheism isn't a faith, its a loss of one, its no longer reason we under no circumstances went to church, its because of the fact I sat down and used my strategies for a jiffy and found out i became ******* stupid for believing in a God might hear to ants that worship him, who might provide a ****, to no longer point out he's rather insecure

If a person says they love God, but hates their neighbor, they are lying. And they do not know God at all.
