actually there were two prodigals in that story
the run away one
and a stay at home prodigal
I see a merciful father who represents Gof
I see one sone willing to enter into the joy of the father
I see one son who missed out on his fathers joy even though he was always at home... his heart wasnt into it

Your question is confusing, so if you'll clarify it, I'll edit this and try to address your concerns.
I don't think that Jesus' message was changed. It was a parable describing the difference between those who know they have sinned and repented out of genuine sorrow and those (like the Pharisees) were confident in their own righteousness. The prodigal son put his trust in his father's mercy and love when he asked for forgiveness. The good son was resentful that his father was generous in forgiveness.
That corresponds to the people like Mary Magdalene who came to Jesus in sorrow and repentance, knowing that they were sinners. By contrast, the Pharisees and other religious people thought that they were already saved because they did all the right things, but their hearts weren't right before God.

ARe you saying that most peopl eno longer live by the whole word of God, so they have changed to be what they want it to be? And if they do that, whats the purpose of doing anything else the Bible teaches to do, beause if we are guilty of the least of these, we are guilty of all... for Instance, years ago most people believed Divore was wrong, no matter what, But today, well I guess it must be ok after all because look how many are doing it.. don`t it say that because of fornication, a man can put his wife away, fornication is sex before marriage, so if a man is decieved, thinking his bride is a virgin he has the right to divorce her and get another wife. the Bible says thats the only reason for divorce and remarrage, BUT man says adultry is cause for Divorce and remarrage, not the Bible. If that was all there wa to it,we could all committ adultry and get new spouses.

I see how the story could be changed to follow your definition. But other than theory what facts do you have to indicate this.
The story as written supports unconditional love in a better light. The father not only loves the good son and does not judge him because he is mad but asks him to forgive the bad son as he has. The moral is not only that god has unconditional love but wants us to give it as well
