After Jerusalem was sacked by Nebacanezer and the Israelites were exiled to Persia. The exile lasted for over a century. I don't recall the dates.

Saul was annointed the first king of Israel, even though the people were warned not to ask for a king.

I think that after Saul and until the Romans had taken control there was a steady succession of kings. Good question I'm gonna look more.

We covered it in church for a brief while, I believe it is during the time the book Haggai was written. I know it was around there. There was a time that they had judges rule over them, that would be in the book of Judges. Israel, was never meant to have a king, for God was meant to be their king, because they were disobedient, God gave them a human ruler.

Before Israel had kings they had judges. Then they sinned. They decided that they needed an earthly king and asked God for one. God granted their request and Israel went downhill from there
