The article has merit. Democracy is extremely complex and hard to manage, especially to a people who know nothing of it. I think a better step would be to set up a form of government elected by the people, but ruled by an individual rather than a group. Start them off with a less confusing form of government then slowly work toward a Democracy. I think the people of the Middle East are overwhelmed and scared of Democracy and it will be hard for them to accept.
