When my dog died I cried. I had to hold him while the Vet put him down. Best thing (I know this sounds heartless) is to get another dog/puppy right away. You will bond with the new animal and it will help you with your pain. You will not forget your dog that died because of the new animal, you will just love him/her differently. Good luck!

I know how you feel, my dog spot got hit by a car while I was at the movies with all my friends having a blast.
Imagian the guilt I felt....
But I'm not gonna let you feel even worse by telling you my problems.
it's a part of life I guess, though it hurts.
But I was told,
Is the hurt when the dog leaves more than all the happy times?
Meaning, are the memories and time spent togather worth the pain at the end?

I am so very, very sorry. Non-pet owners just don't understand what we go through when our dog dies. When my Champ died my jackass brother said well just get another one and name it Champ. What if his daughter died , should he just adopt another one? Arggh!
There are phases that we go through during the loss of a dogs. We need to understand that they are normal and necessary before we can really recover. The web-site below discusses the process. My heart is with you.

I'm very sorry. My dogs are loving members of my family and I will miss them dearly when they die. You may want to get a new pet when you're ready - not a replacement, but a different pet and companion.

So sorry to hear that. The loss of a pet is very hard. If you can afford it have him cremated and keep his remains with you. I have my boy cat Frosty with me forever.
