APPLE DAPPLE CAKE

1 1/4 cup oil
1 teaspoon salt
2 cups sugar
3 cups of flour
3 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon soda
1 cup white raisins (optional)
1 teaspoon cinnamon
3 cups diced apples
1 cup of pecans

Cream oil, sugar and eggs. Add soda, salt, flour and cinnamon, which have been sifted together. Fold in apples, nuts, raisins, vanilla. Pour into ungreased tube pan. Topping: 1 cup brown sugar, 1/4 cup milk, 1/2 cup butter, l teaspoon of vanilla. Bring to boil for 3 minutes and pour over cake while both are still warm. Cut cake loose from sides of pans and punch holes in top of cake with a fork. Let set 10 minutes, then remove from pan.

Caramel Apples:

2 pounds lady apples or tart apples, such as Macouns or Winesaps
1 pound caramel squares
10 wooden sticks

Wash and completely dry the apples. Insert a wooden stick into thetop end of each. Line a baking sheet with wax paper and set aside.

In a small saucepan over low heat, combine the caramels with 1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons water. Cook until smooth, stirring occassionally, about 10 minutes. Remove from heat.

While the caramel is hot, dip the apples in, swirling to coat evenly. Let the excess caramel drip off and place the apples on the lined baking sheet. Place in the refrigerator to harden, about 1 hour.

Yield: Makes 10 apples

Apple pie is always good, simple but nothing wrong with that. I don't have a recipe with me now but basically all you do is peel and cut the apples and then add some cinnamon and sugar and put it all in a pie crust abd bake, you can probelly find a more exact recipe online

Granny Smith for baking.

Apple Pie-
Peel, core and slice 3 pounds of apples. Sprinkle with juice of 1/2 lemon. Toss slices with 1 tsp. cinnamon, 1/4 tsp. salt, 1/2 cup of brown sugar. Place in prepared pie crust. Top with crumb topping.( 1/2 cup butter, 1 cup flour, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup white sugar all worked together to form crumbs) Bake at 375 degrees until apples are easily pierced with a fork. Timing depends on how thick you slice your apples. I usually slice them thinly and bake 50 minutes.

Any of em work for baking, whatever they tell ya.

Apple crisp.

Cut up and peel the apples. Oatmeal brown sugar, and lemon juice, mix it up and cover. Bake for an hour or so. Or if lazy, just core the apples and put the filling in them and bake.

I have many but I can't put them all on here because my typing skills are not that great. I have found that "granny smith" works the best for baking. Yes there are others that you can use but my personal choice is in fact granny smith apples

I have to agree with lactose, that apple crisp package that you get at the grocery is really awesome. Other than that I really don't know any recipes with apples in them but apple pie.

P.S. It's the bomb when you eat it hot and add a scoop of vanilla ice cream to it!

I used to make an apple tort like this one at Christmas and it got rave reviews. I've heard Roman is good for baking, but I think a tart like MacIntosh is good too.
