Refrigerate your ketchup - see following

This is the suggestion from the FDA - Food and Drug Administration (I put ****'s around the area that discuses ketchup storage):

Safe Storage

* The first rule of food storage in the home is to refrigerate or freeze perishables right away......

Always check the labels on cans or jars to determine how the contents should be stored. Many items besides fresh meats, vegetables, and dairy products need to be kept cold. *****For instance, mayonnaise and ketchup should go in the refrigerator after opening. If you've neglected to refrigerate items, it's usually best to throw them out.*****

No restaurant ever has cold ketchup.
With all the health/safety codes that restaurants must with, I'm sure if ketchup needed refrigeration it would be refrigerated.

No, There's nothing on the bottle that says to "refrigerate after opening". And think about it when you go to restaurants the bottles are room temperature & in many cases sitting out on your table already. If it was a health violation they wouldn't be able to do that.

Absolutely NOT! I always keep it in the pantry and sometimes it takes more than a month to use it up. NO problems.

The high vinegar/acid level zaps any bacteria that might be hanging around.

even though it has a vinegar base it should be in the fridge when not being used as in overnight....but it is OK to leave it out for short periods of time..

after it is opened. It should say on the container whether it needs to be refrigerated or not.
