I was wondering what other people thought about this. I work in a kitchen in a convience store and we make soups everyday, but the problem is that even though we scrap the pots out food still gets in the drain. What can we do to stop this food and anything else from pluging up the sink?

After scraping the pots clean, use a wet paper towel to mop off the residue before washing up. To prevent the sink from clogging up - on a bi-monthly routine, pour in 2 equal parts (cups) of baking soda n vinegar down the sink, b4 closing. I assure u, clogging problem can b solved. Try this n let us kno in 3-6 months ..... ? " - ) If u r successful ... mayb I can send u my bill LOL

Yes, you may use a strainer and the bit about the colander was brilliant. If they'll pay for it, a garbage disposal system would be great and it only costs a couple hundred bucks. See if you can get them to splurge.

they make screen strainers for the drain even though you may have to buy it your self it would be better than having a mess all the time...the screen will stop food from going down the drain....

you can use a colender, or a hotel pan with wholes in it to catch the food. or in a sink full with water, use a strainer (wave it around in the sink before unplugging it, to catch food deposits)
