I just saw a book this morning called 1001 natural ways to protect your pets.(or something like that).
They said to cut up a lemon in thin slices, place it in a container and cover with boiling hot water. then pull out the lemon pulp, add dishwashing liquid and pennygrass-you can get it at a healthfood store. Also of you get vitamin b complex and sprinkle it on the dogs food , the fleas won't bite the-I guess that would work for humands too. I'll have to call my girlfriend who had the book and varify the name and get you some of the other things they suggested. I know there was something about making a powder mixture with sage, you can put on your household carpets and dogs bedding Good luck. Kim

Well, you can remove the fleas individually by hand and by using a special flea comb. You can drown any of the fleas you remove in a pail of water (some people add a small amount of detergent to the water to make sure the fleas die). Of course, you also have to wash your pet's bedding and vacuum carpets very regularly. This is an effective way of dealing with fairly small infestations of adult fleas; however, it will not address the full life cycle of the flea - for that you need to put your dog on a regular monthly pill, like Program.

You cannot! I have bred Sable Collies for years and because of my own allergies, I tried every herbal remedy out there!
Most well known are garlic or brewers yeast.
Neither of them were successfull.
Now however there are the Veterinary sold skin drops, they are applied once a month, and since I had started using them several years ago, I also noticed that I can cut the doses from 8 months using 4 months free of using down to 4 months using 8 months free. I also live in New England and the weather helps in that regard.
I did not mention the Brand Names for a reason, it is up to you to go and discuss this with your Doctor before you try anything, age, breed , general health, and cats are all a factor in the purchase decision! Please talk to the Vet. First.

The best produce you can use is one that uses permeations (sp) it’s a dip comprised from a plant and is very toxic to fleas.
You mix it up, it’s highly concentrated, and pore it over the dog, it is a long hair dog then you can mush the dip into the hair.
Many will say to wash it off then…if you do you will totally eliminate the useful protection that the dip will give you. Don’t dry it off the dog although you can use a dryer on a large dog and blow the moisture away, leaving the permeation residue.

Well to me if you have an inside dog, only let it out just for the bathroom and that's it, but a strong shampoo will help. There really isn't a remedy for fleas and dogs, it's like peas and carrots, they are always gonna be together!!!

With a spot treatment such as Frontline or a similar spot treatment product. You can get some from a vet or even at Petco or Petsmart. It's best to wash the dog first, wait till it is completely dry and then apply the treatment. And make sure you get the right amount for the weight of the dog.

Fennel and tea tree oil. You can steep the fennel in boiled water, let it cool, strain it, then use it when washing your dog, or use tea tree shampoos. Best thing though is that spot on stuff as its absorbed into the skin and can't hurt anyone after its dried (unless you eat the dog... which, well, most people don't eat their pets :P)

A bath with almost any shampoo will help. I use baby shampoo on my dog. I also use a flea comb to catch the fleas on her.
