Who truly supports our brave soldiers? Those who want them home or those who want to leave them there for years on end as target practice for a billion muslims?

This question comes up often in some form or the other. I'll try to explain it the way I usually do.

It's not so hard to understand. The military is here to protect the country and her freedoms. Usually, that protection includes war or some sort, even if it's not on the battlefield. If you can't support war, you can't support the troops. War is what they do in some form or the other. You think you can have it both ways, but really you can't. And no, the people against the war don't bring the troops home. They endanger the troops. Protesting and fighting over war brings moral down. What brings the troops home is support for them and the cause so that they can complete their mission....safely....without worry of who's spreading lies, rumors and so on about them. Never forget, there's a military person protecting your right to complain, protest or what ever you do. They deserve total support, not conditional.

And yes, I support our troops. I have total respect and admiration for them. They're brave in everything they do and it's too easy for people to sit behind a puter and criticize them when they've never been a military persons boots.

.. you can support your whole country and being american by exposing the truth and spreading it behind the whole system of "new world order" and how it is all connected ... it doesnt do any good to be against the war in iraq and "for" the war on terror ... or against the administration and "for" the war on terror ... we need an antiwar movement that exposes the whole corrupt system for what it is ... changing to a new administration or democrats wont change anything and simply being against the war actually plays into the hands of those that are in power and pulling the strings by not focusing on and exposing them.... the truth is their main enemy ...if you really want to support the troops we need to band together with a common voice and get the truth out.

Wanting them home does not show how much you hate your troopers...but wanting them home without them accomplishing anything really good (like at least making sure Iraq does not become another Iran or Taliban Afghanistan) may mean that their buddies who died really died for nothing...

Best approach...support the troops while they are still there and hope that they get some good done...while guaranteeing that they will get out once their mission is done immediately (no permanent presence or whatever other crazy political statement).

I strongly support the soldiers, but I do not support the war in Iraq. Soldiers can be valiant and purposeful without having to seek war. Most armies in the world (especially the developed world) spend significant amounts of their time and effort on peacekeeping missions bringing a better life to millions of people arouns the world. War only makes life crap. Stop the war, and get the soldiers back to making the world a better place.

You can support them either way, it doesn't come down to only one choice. But we all know the nutcase conservatives will try to say your "against America". They'll try to guilt trip you by saying "your helping the terrorists". Don't buy into it, it's just a guilt trip tactic, kinda like this.

Of course the people don't want war. But after all, it's the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it's always a simple matter to drag the people along whether it's a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism, and exposing the country to greater danger."

Sound like Republicans doesn't it.

Both support the troops with their own beliefs. However, to let Iraq become a terrorist haven makes their sacrifice for nothing (IMO).

I guess that shows support, but i mean, that also does not show support to the american people, by saying that you don't actually care if terrorists reign supreme, and then 10 years later, they are nuking us

Yeah, let them finish the job. Then they will come home, but next time be sure to speak up when our president commits them to a bit-bucket operation.
