The Holy Spirit didn't bring about the first inquisition. That was brought about by carnal men misled by the Devil.
2 Corinthians 11:13 For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. 14 And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. 15 So it is no surprise if his servants, also, disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. Their end will correspond to their deeds.
How do I know this to be true? Because of what Jesus said in the parable about the wheat and the tares. He said to let the tares grow with the wheat because otherwise people might pull up the wheat along with the tares and so it obviously wasn't the third member of the godhead acting against what Jesus had already established.
Matthew 13:24-30 Another parable He set before them, saying: "The kingdom of heaven is like a man sowing good seed in his field. 25 But while the men were sleeping, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went away. 26 But when the stalk had sprouted and produced fruit, then the tares also appeared. 27 So the servants of the master of the house approached and said to him, 'Sir, was it not good seed you sowed in your field? From where then does it have tares?' 28 "He said to them, 'An enemy has done this.' So the servants said to him, 'Do you wish then that we should go and gather them up?' 29 "But he said, 'No, lest gathering up the tares you also uproot the wheat with them. 30 Leave both to grow together until the harvest; and at the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, "First gather together the tares, and bind them into bundles to burn them, but gather together the wheat into my barn." ' "
Tares are poisonous weeds that look just like wheat when they start to grow together and it is only easy to tell the difference when the wheat starts to bear seed near the harvest time.
Matthew 13:36 Then having dismissed the crowds, Jesus went into the house. And His disciples came to Him, saying, "Explain to us the parable of the tares of the field." 37 He answered and said to them: "He that sows the good seed is the Son of Man. 38 And the field is the world, and the good seed, these are the sons of the kingdom, but the tares are the sons of the evil one. 39 The enemy who sowed them is the devil, the harvest is the end of the age, and the reapers are the angels. 40 Therefore just as the tares are gathered and burned with fire, thus it will be at the end of this age. 41 The Son of Man will send forth His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who work iniquity, 42 and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. 43 Then the righteous will shine forth like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears to hear, let him hear!"

It looks like it's going that way, doesn't it?
I think these fundies will eventually be seen for the wackos they are (probably after Bush leaves office and we get a REAL president), hopefully. Maybe 20 years from now we can read about the turn of the century as our latest "dark age"....

can somebody prove that the holy spirit was behind the first one?
of course, no one can...
so what can make anyone think that the holy spirit will do it again...
anyways... if its the holy spirit, its fruit should be ... what... holy?
so apparently, it wasn't from the holy one... some other spirit probably...
the unholy spirit?

And, why not bring back the Crusades, too? They were both the scourge of the earth.
Is this what you call Christianity? I am sure glad I am not one of you.

no...
When Jesus said the day was coming when people would kill you and think they were doing God a favor.. we did not have in mind people really obeying God... but people who thought they obeyed God
lots of people think they love God and are maybe even enthusiastic... but do they love God? or are they doing their own thing
