It can depend on the size of the dog, general health and how much chocolate. If a large dog eats a little bit of chocolate he may get sick or most likely nothing will happen. For a smaller dog that bit of chocolate will be more potent to his system. Small dogs have died before by eating chocolate because it was very toxic to them. It's best to determine the amount consumed and ask a vet.

The problem, according to veterinary experts, is that eating a speck of chocolate leads a dog to crave more. It can mean that your dog will jump at a opportunity to get any type of chocolate, not knowing that certain chocolates are more lethal than other types. Larger amounts of chocolate, particularly of the most toxic type, can bring about epileptic seizures in some dogs, and in all dogs, can kill.

Depends how much and on the dog. My Golden Retriever mix doesn't have a problem with chocolate. She sneaks it all the time. My Chow Chow gets the runs if she eats it. It is often considered toxic to dogs and vets recommend that you don't feed dogs chocolate.

Well, I guess they could die, or most likely get sick but...
Last christmas, my cocker spaniel went into my stocking and ate a chocolate covered marshmallow santa, a chocolate elf truffle, and a chocolate with strawberry elf! Oh yeah, and half a box of giant tic tacs, wrappers and all! We called the vet and they said he should be fine, and he was! I guess it depends on how well your dog digests stuff! I know my dog eats anything, even plastic toys, toilet paper, wood chips, etc.

If a small dog like a Chihuahua ate a handful of chocolate kisses, it would probably kill him. If a large dog like a mastiff ate a couple of candy bars, it might make him sick or have diarrhea but would not kill him. It takes less to kill a small dog than it would a big dog.

depending on the size of your dog and how much it ate, it could get very sick and possibly die. you may need to have it's stomach pumped. but, you can also give it one to two teaspoons of hydrogen peroxide until it vomits to remove the chocolate from it's system then contact your local vet. he may want to give doggy some active charcoal assuming you did the peroxide good luck and i hope your dog is ok

Is this a for real question? or are you in with 'choco' pest.
See Choco, the trouble with asking silly questions is when someone does need to know seriously it is treated like the boy that cried wolf.
I for one refuse to answer the question about chocolate now.
