The problem is expensive parts, and only dealers work on them, so they are very expensive in the long run.

The answer is If you feel it was a good deal..
1) Do you like the vehicle?
2) Was the price affordable?
If there is no warranty(obvious in this case) if the vehicle dies is that amount of money o.k to lose?
Car deals are complicated because people fail to put the right stuff on the important list till it's to late!
I know, I built em, I sell them and I've owned 16.

It sounds like a pretty good deal to me......
But I have to take offense to the woman that recommended you go to a Japanese car because they are still running strong after 100000. I am a Ford man, and I currently in my driveway have a 78 F-150 with 250000 on it. A 1986 Lincoln Town Car with 310000, and my 95 Taurus SHO with 236000. Don't tell me North American cars are junk. I know better.

Yeah, if youre happy with the price you paid. Sounds good for the mileage. Check out the private party value at www.kbb.com. Thats a good benchmark.

Yeah, sounds like about normal for a volkswagon...good job!
They don't lose their value as much as some of the cheaper cars these days...

i guess its not bad for 2500, i would've opted for a japanese car, after 100k they're still going, and going, i had to wreck my accord because everything i did to it to make it die never worked! parts for a german car are always pricey. GL!

depends on how those miles came about because some cars are completely worn out by then if they are driven hard.

It is impossible to tell unless you had a super-duper mechanical inspection done.
Preferably more than one inspection, IMO.
Otherwise you have a big unknown in your equation.
