whenever you have a break in the continuity of a bone it's called a fracture. there are many types of fractures and i would consider a fracture that breaks the skin would be a complete, open fracture. generally, what would happen is you will need to have x rays done and to check to make sure you have a pulse present, and all of your motor and sensory skills intact. surgery would more than likely be needed in a case like this to help set the fracture so that it can heal properly and we call this union. open fractures are also treated with antibiotics, because open wounds are always considered infected. yes, your arm will be casted to help the healing process and to make sure it heals aligned in its correct anatomical position. it provides a better quality of life for you.

If the bone is protruding through the skin, yes surgery will be needed. There is also a likelyhood that the bones could be pinned, plated or screwed together then cast and splint.

It will need surgery. Whether it will be casted or splinted depends on where the break is. After having surgery on my shattered elbow, it was put in a splint, not a cast, for 16 weeks.

Looks like u have a open fracture which is a MEDICAL EMERGENCY!!!
Firstly, about the first aid part.
1.DONT manipulate or try pushing the bone inside. You may cause further damage.
2.If possible wash thoroughly and cover with a sterile dressing.
3.If bleeding apply direct pressure.

Your doctor will then assess the nature of the fracture and the intactness of your nerves and blood vessels.

The treatement of the fracture itself would be either external fixator or internal fixation or a splint.

bone prutrusion means that you have got a displaced fracture .
most arm fractures can be treated by relocating the bone back in place and putting in cast for few weeks , with a repeat X ray in between to check if its healing in the right position. but sometimes they do need surgery depending on the number of fractured fragments and the position of the bone. This is identified on X ray and examination,
So get it sorted at your emergency dept

Yes. It's called an ORIF, or open reduction internal fixation. This will require the bones to be re-set and then held together with pins and screws. I have never heard of it having to be casted after surgery and I cant imagine that it would be necessary. Obviously you will want to keep the incision clean etc.

It's called an open fracture.

Most times, yes, so you don't catch or rip any blood vessels or tendons while reassembling it.
