Well, to be honest there's more to it than that. If you have $100 million in the bank and your house is worth $80K, sure. For most people, however, that won't apply.

The key is knowing you have the winning hand without a doubt. In some games, this is a much less powerful hand than a Royal Flush. If you have the best hand it is said that you have the nuts. In community games (games where players share common cards) it is possible to know the best hand that anyone can have. Knowing this at any given time is a basic skill. For example, in Texas Hold 'em the most common winner of that type is the nut flush.

Also, a number of bets will have already taken place by the time you are sure that you have the best hand. Before you reach the point where your house is bet some very painful bets will probably already have been required.

Finally, even if you have the best hand, maybe you still don't want to bet the house. You (or the other guy) could have a heart attack before the hand is finished. Maybe your wife promised to divorce you if you gambled. Etc., etc.

Bottom line - not likely. Somewhere between almost never and never.

No, under any circumstance. You have to draw the line somewhere. If it's gotten to the point that the house is coming into play, I feel you would need some professional help - pronto.

I would. If I had at least 10 different houses and the men sitting around the table were friends, or family

No. I am a pretty good poker player but I would be afraid I wouldn't have no where to live.

I would never do that!!! Not unless I'm very drunk and crazy.

Why'd you ask?
