So far I'm down from 4 cups a day to 1 cup, but every morning I get terrible headaches until I have a cup. I'm also suffering from lethargy, light headedness, irritability and slight nausea. Anyone know how long this will last for?

god help u.

over the door of every coffee shop is an invisible banner, shining out into the astral plane like halley's comet:

abandon all hope, ye who enter here!

there is nothing you can do! it's too late for you, grasshopper. the dark side - i mean, roast - has won. you might as well commit seppukku with your lightsaber!

perhaps take up smoking? the coughing and nausea should help take your mind off the caffeine withdrawal!

ok. seriously, it should wear off in a day or so after you have your last cup. best to cold turkey it and take a lot of advil to kill the headache. also, take a lot of vitamin b12 - helps counter the lethargy and such. liquid b12 works best!

good luck!
you poor thing...

oh dear, its that bad huh?

but if you are just having one cup per day now, its not so bad right? my doctor told me a black cup of coffee in the morning can help prevent headache. so why don't you just drink one cup in the morning, and switch to other drinks for the rest of the day?

i am a coffee addict, its impossible to not drink that one cup every day.

Wow, you're really jonesing! Maybe you should try 1/2 decaf 1/2 regular for a while, at least until some of your jitters go away.

Lack of caffeine is probably causing most of your symptoms. Several brands make a halfcaf brand that has half the caffeine. Try switching to that, then go to decaf. After that, quitting should be a lot easier.

You're doing a good job, caffiene addiction is hard to break. You could try herbal white tea in it's place, sweetened with honey, hot or iced or any other flavor of herbal tea.
