I'm proud that you worked to become a US Citizen. Illegals are ruining out country. They are bringing down wages. Taking jobs that US Citizens will do such as construction, except, construction doesn't pay like it used to because they know they can fill the jobs with illegals. Illegals are a burden on our health care system. I do not think there should be a path the citizenship. I do not think there should be a guest worker program. I think everyone who crosses our borders should do it the legal way or they should immediately be shipped back. We need to develop a system the thoroughly check out whether a person is hear legally or not. If not deport!
I come from Italian decent. My great grandfather came here as a young man. He worked in the mines in Kansas at first. He married a nice Italian lady. They had kids. They both got their citizenship. My great grandfather would not allow Italian to be spoken in his home. He told his children you are an American now so speak American. That's what they did. Because of that I never learned Italian. The immigrants now days aren't that way. They want to bring their country here.

They already know the correct way to become a legal
immigrant, but they don't want to wait and work to pay for it so they take the easy way out and enter illegally
I'm happy that you did things the legal way and you are to be congratulated.Welcome! You have proven to others it can and should be done only in the legal lawful way.

It seems Laura you are being threatened because you may be Hispanic by the other Hispanics .Saying you better not be against etc.Shes a legal American and she can do and say whatever she likes.Intimidation doesn't work over the Internet.

The legal way is the ONLY way to get citizenship.Too many illegals are coming across with intentions of starting a new life in America with little or no work history.Granted, they are hard workers(at times)and they are cheap labor, they are hurting the American economy and are taking jobs away from citizens of the U.S.I believe we are worried about starvation in other countries more than we are our own.

Laura please elaborate more on you personal situation. How many years did you live here in the States before you got your citizenship? How many years were you a resident which means you could live and work legally here in the US? You are a Chicana. You are not wanted by either the Mexicans or the American people.

You should be proud. Unfortunatley the true answer to this is "moeny talks". Noone would ever consider givig a single illegal free citizenship, but when you begin to talk about the largest ethnic minority group in this country, there is strength in numbers.

I'm glad that you did go through all the hoops and red tape. It is a sign of someone who really loves this country. To many like you, it is just unfair that the illegals should go ahead of the line and be rewarded for nothing.

Why when people are talking about illegal immigrants, the magic word is Mexicans. We have illegal from all over the world. Come on people wake up and smell the coffee, stop stereo typing.

Who said because of them this country is the most powerful in the world?? BAAAA HAAAA HAAAA HAAAAA Yeah RIGHT!!
Because they can pick beans better than Americans?

What % of Mexicans go to college that can actually contribute something to this country? It's minute, esp. when 50% don't even have a h.s. diploma.

Illegal mexicans should NOT be given citizenship. That would amount to rewarding them for breaking our laws. They should be jailed for a period of time and then deported
