I was just thinking about this question, its not a joke or anything, but nobody really could give me an answer. I was just thinking about...what happens if theres a blind person whose also deaf, and can't hear. I mean like........you know what I mean....wouldn't that be such a horrible life to live, being blind, not hearing anything, and not being able to talk, only being able to feel. I don't know, but it would be nice to get someone else's opinion on that. thankyou!

I would presume its not so bad if your born into it I suppose because then it is your world its all you have ever known and its a comfort zone, But Imagine that you had seen the sky the sea the sun and your loved ones and then by some accident such as explosion your hearing and sight were taken from you I think that would be different and I don't know how I would cope, I wondered if a deaf person can feel the reverberations in our voice I once stood in front of a huge amplifier and I could feel the music even though i was wearing ear muffs and couldn't hear it It would be cool if profoundly deaf people could feel the latest music don't you think .Can you Imagine what it would be fore them to stand and feel the energy happening at a rave music people and all those vibrations on their skin ,

Ahhh, now you can imagine what it's like to be 90.
Though if you're 90 with diabetes, you won't be able to feel either!
Few people are born completely blind AND deaf. Most have both or one or the other, and then loose the ability at some point. This is their saving grace because their brains have had some time to process concepts of sound or sight. So even if they lost those abilities at a early age, they can be taught to relearn using what they already know.
As in the case with Helen Keller. She was born fine and knew her mother and father and had even learned a word: water. Then she lost her abilities. It was the one word 'water' that finally made sense to her when it was signed. She made the connection between hand movements and 'things' in the world.
And we know the rest..

There are a certain percent of people who are both blind and deaf. You may recall the story of Helen Keller?
Thankfully in our society special circumstances are usually screened for, and caught early so that people with such unique needs would still be able to learn about the world, and communicate with those around them despite such obsticles.

i have worked with people who are blind, deaf and mute and also tactile defensive so they do not like the feel of touch.
if that is how you were born than that is normal for you. in other words you don't miss what you don't know. does this make sense? people who were able to see or hear who went blind or deaf i think would be pretty tragic but you would get use to it because really you have no other choice. you would learn to adjust. good question!

I've thought about that as well and it makes me feel a little panicky. First of all to be blind would be so frightening - to be trapped in the dark and actually be in the light, but not able to see it....add to that no sound and not be able to talk.
Helen Keller did it though and was a very prolific writer. I guess human beings can adapt to anything if they have to. We just have to hope we never have to!!
You might want to read her biography, it would be interesting.
