I mean, it's not really a choice to be gay ( unlike drugs, murder, prostitution, etc...), it's just who you are. Straight people didn't choose to be straight they just are. So I don't think it should be a sin. Being gay is kind of like a characteristic or something. So why is it like this?
Thanks

Churches do not agree on this. The United Church of Christ, the Unitarian Universalists, and most of the Episcopal Church find nothing inherently wrong with homosexuality or gay people. Other churches disagree. Don't assume one side speaks for all Christians.

Because they are Christians of convenience and ignorance.

Consider that the Bible was used to excuse slavery and racism (still is in some places). Apartheid was based on the admonition that the sons of Cain (accepted by scholars to mean blacks) were to held in bondage and to serve the righteous.

Also, the admonitions for being gay only appear in the old testament, the new testament (not the KJV or other english translations) speaks of prostitution and sex with children not homosexuality (Hebrew and Aramaic text at the University at Jerusalem, theological studies). The change was made around 600 AD then later under the auspices of King James the First. So take it for what you will, the truth is Christians are not very Christian.

Some people might be born gay.. But some people turn gay and was a choice they made... Esspecially girls.......... Anyways, they say it isn't right because it's not natural. If a person is gay, then he most likely wont have offspring. It's natural to be straight because when a man and a woman have sex, they create offspring, which ensures the survival of a species. It might be natural in the sense that a person is born gay... But... So is schizophrenia.... I personally don't think it's right to be gay... And my fear is that if gay is considered the norm, It increases the chance that when I have kids they might be gay.. And I want grand kids....... Bloodline grandkids.... But, I am not one to force my beliefs onto other people, and if a person wants to be gay, then a person should be free to be whoever/whatever they want. Homosexuality is not a danger to society, and if that's the life you live, there's no harm in that... Religious people think it's wrong to be gay because it's an abomination

You may not think that 'same sex' sex is a sin but God does. Even if people don't choose to be gay, even if they are born that way, the bible clearly says ALL PEOPLE 'must be born again'. Read John 3:3 and also, 1Corinthians 6:9

What I don't understand is why this question is asked almost every day. The bible teaches that homosexuality is a sin. That is why bible believing people believe it is a sin.

The argument about people being "born that way" holds no water. If God says don't do this....we are supposed not to do it. Now, if others choose to argue with the bible, or ignore it, that's their business. But since you ask, that is why "we Christians" believe what we do.

It makes some people uncomfortable. That's pretty much it.
There's some stuff about it in the Bible, along with the stuff about shellfish being an abomination, and wearing clothes of different threads. But they latch onto the homosexual thing as though it's the only part of the Bible that really matters.

God did not create people to be gay. His design was for a man and a woman to join together and become one.

I agree, people can be born with a tendency to be gay. Just as some people are born with a tendendy to be angry, or selfish, to be rude, or uncaring, or unforgiving. Just because you are born with that tendency, doesn't mean it's ok to live it out. If someone is a naturally angry person, is it ok for them to lash out and hurt people because they were born that way? No, they have to ask God to change them from the inside out. Same with people who are attracted to the same-sex. First they need to seek a relationship with the Lord, and then ask Him to change their heart. Being gay is not MORE of a sin than being a liar, or being a murderer. A sin is a sin, we're all sinners, and there's nothing we can do about it except ask for forgiveness and seek someone higher than ourselves to get us out of the mess we live in. Please, feel free to email me on what you think about that! katiafoster@yahoo.com

you are confused! It is a choice ,especially when the child has been molested and never been able to get help. Is un-natural . Period. Un-natural . The bottom of our bodies was made to get rid of body waste ,not for sex! This is why the female organ is receptive to the male organ, it is a mutual reception. If being [gay] your word ,not mine!, was not a choice there would either not be men or women , or only one sex! But we are with physical bodies opposite in males and females to be into one another . Gay means happy, con tented, I dont see that ,especially in males. t

I just finished writing a piece about the Holy Spirit and will interject some of that here.

First, christians are against gays because that is what the Bible says. God says it and that settles it.

Second, many will tell you that beging gay is a spiritual problem that must be dealt with by casting out that demon.

That said however, the church is not operating in it's fulness today because unlike the diciples of Jesus (i.e. the first church) who were Spirit-filled and Spirit-led, we are not.

So, even as we christians accuse gays of being ungodly, we do not offer a solution. When Jesus or even the diciples met those who were bound by evil spirits, they cast them out and gave deliverance to the captives. But much of the church today is not Spirit-led and so we cannot do the signs and wonders that Jesus said we would be able to do when we received the Holy Spirit. We should be casting out demons but we are not.

So, even as we point an accusing finger at gays, we should be ashamed of ourselves as christians because we do not have a solution for them. We are the ones who should share the WORD and WORKS of Jesus in this world but we are lacking in power because we have not considered how important it is for each and every believer to be filled with the Holy Ghost.

Remember that even Jesus could not minister without the Holy Spirit. Now surely, if Jesus himself needed the Holy Spirit, how much more do we???????????

So, while I would agree that the Bible is against gays, I also have to agree that the Church is failing to provide a solution. The church is really the one that needs to be accused -- for Jesus did not accuse the sinners, but instead forgave and delivered them. We cannot accuse gays, just like Jesus would not accuse them. Jesus would have rebuked them in love and cast out the deviant spirits in them. But Jesus is not here now; it is us who are here. So, what are we doing to help gays find their much-needed deliverance?

Unfortunately, many of us are not even fit to be called christians because we are not acting like Jesus.

May God have mercy and raise up His church so that we can share the power and love of Jesus to the world. Amen.

It itself is not a sin. But the bible does show millions of examples were its wrong. Take the Beggining. Adam and Eve, not Adam and Dave. Also, another exmpale is Noah's Ark. Noah was made to put two of each animal in the ark, one male and one female. You see what i mean. It's not in the ten commandments, but its not right.
