I'm 15 and at my high school I'm in NJROTC. When I turn 17 I plan on enlisiting in the Marine Corps. My grandpa was a marine, i luv the marines, i love aviation and overall i love the millitary. I still want 2 go 2 college and my family dose not have the money 2 pay for college. So i figured since im in NJROTC, i love planes and the marines that i could enlist; train, learn how to fly and get a scholorship maybe. But I'm not sure, should I enlist in the USMC when im 17 (I will be a high school junior)

Well, I think if that's what you plan on doing anyway you should wait until you graduate. And if you want to go to school maybe you should think about something like the reserves, because you would still get training. Or you could try and get a scholarship from the military and when your done with college become an Officer. Of course this is one of those decisions that you have to make for yourself. I just want to say that the military is a BIG committment, that you should not take lightly. I suggest you look at ALL of your options before you join. And don't just talk to the recruiters because they are trying to sell you something. Talk to other enlisted people and talk to people in the career field that you want to go into. And look at all the services. I hope everything works out well for you.

Let's break this down a bit.

1) Choosing to join the military is an honorable thing to do.
2) Yes you can get money for going to college, several programs are available, the main one all the branches use is Montgomery G.I. Bill. But each branch also has other programs, Navy College Fund, Army College fund etc.
3) All branches have Tuition Assistance (TA). Currently TA is allowed to pay 100% of tuition costs, including lab fees and entry fee. Each branch has set the maximum dollar amount, and semester hours that it will pay for per fiscal year (Sept 1st to October 31st). This does not cover books for the classes.
4) In order to be a military pilot you have to have a 4 year college degree in a math or science major.
5) You can enlist before you graduate and be on the Delayed Entry Program, basically the military waits till u graduate before sending you to basic training (boot camp)

I hope this helps answer your question.

It sounds like you have an idea of what will be expected of you if you join. If that is the case, and you want to work hard at being the best for the next 6 years, think clearly, then commit with honor.

Whatever you choose, I wish you every success.

I've had family in all branches of the military and I'm retired Army. Each branch offers different skills and bonuses. Wait- decided what career path you want to follow and check out all the branches in that field. Stick to your goals and find out who will best help you achieve them. I admire your youth and my advice is not to make any hasty decisions. Best of luck.
