it seems as if with this forum sarcasm is the name of the game, but try to be sensitive, and if they ask for serious answers, its not appropriate

Where a question requires a stern response, then yes, I can approve of sarcasm. Political correctness has become the bane of the planet. People have become weak, or worse, frightened because their every word can be taken out of context and used against them. This is a delightful forum for banding together and striking out against the repression. The world is tough; Always has been, always will be. If one cannot learn to deal with a few harsh words, then what will become of them when faced with genuine hardship?

Sure, sometimes it's the only way to keep you from punching out the computer screen...at least it helps in my personal experience. I can't believe some of the things people think up, really makes me worry about our education system in the US...and the spelling that some people use, how can you not be a smart-*** at times?!

Well, it's hard to do sarcasm in the written word. No voice inflection, no facial expression or body language. Someone may think or interpret your humor or your straight sentence as sarcasm and you may not have even meant it that way.

I only answer sarcastically when the question is OBVIOUSLY not serious. Or, when it's so filled with ignorance that I can't help but leave a snotty reply. Otherwise, I try to answer only when I think I can be of some help.

Some people use sarcasm to lighten up their comments.
That's what I use it for. Or if someone asks a really obvious question...

I do it all the time. Might explain why I only have one best answer to my credit. But I am sure as hell having fun though.
