We are going to Alaska in the motor home and would like to know what paper work is involved in having our african grey parrot with us on this trip. I understand that we need some kind of permit to show where he came from but not sure what state agency to contact?

Here is the Canadian link to Canadian Food Inspection Agency who is the agency to ask. But don't forget you need to know what is needed getting into Alaska from Canada too.

For these Canadian regulation it seems like minimal work if the Bird is "from the US" I don't know what they are looking for? You are coming from there? Your bird was born there or not? Or the species? Anyway, I don't know where you bought the parrot or where it was born. If not a US bird, then it does fall into possible banned for bird flu reasons.

You are best read the link and contact them.

Bringing a bird across is no issue.
If the bird was born in the USA :http://www.inspection.gc.ca/english/anim...
If the bird was born in another country: http://www.inspection.gc.ca/english/anim...
As long as the parrot is in visibly good health he won't need any major inspection and no quarantine. You'll have to sign a paper that confirms the bird belongs to you and that you don't intend to sell it in Canada. The above sites will get you to the agency you need for the forms. The term "psittacines" that they use in the Gov't sites is just a fancy term that embodies all Parrot species. That's about it.
Have a good trip

This has no longer something to do with any state enterprise. you will would desire to touch Canada immigration and customs bureau. There are some issues which could no longer be extra around the border, and there are intense restraints on some styles of residing animals. positioned government of canada on your seek engine, and save on with classes on the abode website for contacting the customs human beings.
