i don't mean people who believe in a different God, or multiple Gods, or who are not sure about God, or believe themselves to be God, or think their ham sandwich is God. i respect these people. i am simply annoyed that people who profess to believe solidly that THERE IS NO GOD waste their time hanging out in religion and spirituality provoking and aggravating those who attest that there IS such a being. That would be like me going on the internet and spending hours of every day arguing with people about the existance of space aliens.

thank you for all of your insight. this has been very helpful. i realize a couple of things i have been a little rude about. one, you are right. atheism most certainly is a religion, and a legitimate one. two, you are certainly allowed to challenge what we say. it would hardly be fair to say you are not. and three, i realize i made it sound as if all atheist posts were insensitive, and i know that is not the case at all, as several of your posts show. i do appreciate hearing from y'all. it's just those occasional "you guys worship santa clause" folks that get me. and i KNOW there are some aggressive Christians out there.

Because they are simply expressing their religious beliefs. Also, if you go to the main page you get an unfiltered list of questions. That's how i usually i end up here. But just because they don't believe in any god doesn't mean that they can't come here, you dig. Atheism is a legit religion whether you believe in it or not. And atheists should be allowed a voice in religious and spiritual disputes.

We could say the same about YOU.When we ask a question that questions your belief, you just quote the bible.Do you not have your OWN mind.Or does the good book make your mind up for you? If you lot say we need to find God or we're off on a hot trip to Hell, then PROVE IT.Prove this stuff you ram down kids throats.Don't expect us to be a bunch of pussys with nothing to say.We have a voice and a right to be heard as much as you.How childish are fairies and pixies.Yet you expect us to believe in some guy with a long beard who listens to EVERY prayer from millions of people.God must have big ears for that.
No.Its bull and people have a right to challenge it.

If you want to split hairs, you could consider atheism a sect of spirituality.

And besides, it's good to hear all sides of an issue. It can really make you think about why you believe what you believe, which is good, because that is one way to grow in your spirituality. And a lot of the atheists are pretty cool and diplomatic, so let's not lump them all into a category (not saying that you did, I'm just saying that as a generality).

With respect, this is a perfectly valid question, but it has been answered thousands of times. Atheists and other non-theists have opinions about religious questions, too, and many are very spiritual (though quite a few prefer to use a variety of other terms for their feelings of awe and wonder). Those who believe we're here to "share our anger or frustration" don't understand how joyful living a life without superstition and unnecessary fear can be. Those who think we're trying to "prove ourselves superior" are simply projecting their own insecurities onto our desire to share our thoughts in an open forum. I'm genuinely interested in reading the opinions of others, and I hope others might be interested in considering things from a different perspective, too.

They are not atheists at all but anti-Christs; literally against Christ.

As such they will do whatever they are driven to do to attack the religious and try to drive a wedge between Christians, Jews, Muslims, etc. and God in any way they can.

Those who are genuinely atheists usually are more considerate of people’s beliefs and are more willing to enter into a good, learned discussion comparing their facts with our facts.

Because idiot, it's called Religion and SPIRITUALITY! God belief does not corner the marked on spirituality. You as always have been misinformed about your religion and your belief. If you ever met a Buddhist, why don't you ask them if they believe in God.

Good question. I could ask the same to you. Why do you spend hours online asking us heathens sarcastic questions just to get off? Space aliens huh? Well, it is more likely they exist than the God you believe in.

I don't believe either way in a supernatural force. Something beyond my comprehension. But your God is so absurd it doesn't even make sense. He comes down to earth, talks to humans, turns into one and basically seems like a normal human to me. There is nothing supernatural about your God besides the fact that you manage to believe in him yet are not mentally retarded. Now that is supernatural!

We're answering questions with the correct answers. Live with it.

If people don't want the correct answers to their questions, they shouldn't be asking those questions.

Leaving believers to go on exchanging the wrong answers to those questions leads us into the kinds of messes we're currently in, with terrorism and antiabortionists and creationism and the other antiscience nonsense, the antihomosexual movement, ad nauseum.

Now, if the believers would just mind their own business, stop attacking science education, get out of the antiabortion business, stop flying planes into buildings full of people, lay off the gays and lesbians, and stop trying to use my tax dollars and government to promote their false beliefs, well, then I'd be more than happy to go find something else to keep myself entertained.

I'll bet you'll find that atheists are happy to take up that deal, while the believers generally won't. The fault is on your side, not ours.

Oh, and there is no god. If you find yourself aggravated at hearing that, you should work at getting some better beliefs. Being wrong is a bad thing.

Keep in mind that there are MANY spritual atheists, those who do not believe in a theistic god but who are in reverence and awe of the mystery of existence. There are also religions where a theistic deity is not part of the theology.

Aren't they the very pple that you should be reaching out to. Aren't they the very ppl that by religious standards need the help the most. And aren't you being a little selfish with your time to not want to witness or spread your word to anyone who might be a little bit more work. Shame on you?
