Its obvious that by the length of the ban you were involved in some sort of incident or it was not your first conviction for drink driving, i doubt you will get your licence back early without completing a new driving test, and rehabilitation course.
Don't take offence but i hope you don't get it back early, drink drivers need heavy sentences to purge this horrific danger from our roads. (i lost 4 close friends at the selfish hands of a drink driver, all at the time under 20 years old)

You can apply for it back early but wasn't you offered a drink driving course at court? If not you can apply for this yourself (about £175) and it will reduce your ban.So taking this into account I cant see them letting you have it back early without completing the course.Also...because you got a 5 yr ban , you must have been 2 and a half times over which means you have to take that blood test which checks your liver. If you drink heavily they will pick up on this and refuse you your licence when you are eligible to get it back

Write a grovelling letter to say how sorry you are and how not being able to drive is preventing you from getting a job, which means, you, your wife and the six kids, will have to continue living off the state for the next 2 years.

You were rather inviting the finger wagging moralises to pass comment. However,75% of accidents are caused by those in the 17-25 bracket. So, If your moralising respondents includes any in that catagory, they had better watch out, because they can't drive, even when sober.

how silly you are. you have to re-apply via the court that banned you, and in most cases you will have to re-take your driving test at a higher cost than standard to non- convicted drivers. hopefully you have learnt your lesson as the price you could have paid if you hit someone would have been a lot higher.

Contact DVLA, they will send you the form.. you may have to prove you are not likely to reoffend, such as a letter from your employment or something otherwise you may have to serve your full ban.

you need to ask the dvla, but i'd be really suprised if you got it back early, as far as i know a 5 year ban is 5 years

Oh boy! Is your insurance going to be steep or WHAT!!!!!
Never mind, insurance companies only sting you for 10 years for a DD offence.
An expensive lesson learned i hope.
